What is your current state of mind? Full with joy and excitement, the months of October thru December are the best months for our business. New plans to grow our company www.lokald.com are in motion so I cant’n wait to see the results.

What is your favorite art movement or style and why? I’m between Pop Art and Surrealism but I got to say that I keen more on Surrealism because it reflects my own thoughts and dreams.

What is your all time favorite treasured artist or artwork? Jackson Pollock Autumn rhythm it’s so intense and full of sadness that it really gets into me.

What is your favorite journey? Roadtrip with the ones you love.

What is your most marked characteristic? Joyful

When and where were you the happiest? Anytime I´m surrounded by people I love

Which talent would you most like to have? Athletic be a professional sports man, surrounded by fame and fortune.

In what museum would you like to live? Museo Reina Sofia

Which words or phrases do you most overuse? Venga!!!

What is your motto? Life begins at the end of your comfort zone

Name: Blair Clarke Profession: Founder, Voltz Clarke

What is your current state of mind? Slightly frazzled–as always a new obstacle when opening a gallery.

What is your favorite art movement or style and why? Contemporary figurative painters like Elizabeth Peyton and John Currin have a special place in my heart. They combine elements of the old masters and high-mannerist style to create a type of contemporary romanticism that I find ethereally beautiful. One of Voltz Clarke’s artists, Holland Cunningham also offers these attributes through her seductive and portraits.

Name a few of your favorite artists: I greatly respect the artists on Voltz Clarke’s roster because they offer a contemporary dialogue that isn’t visually or conceptually bounded - they paint or create based on what they are passionate about, not what’s ‘trendy.’

What is your most treasured artwork? Anything painted by my daughters, Poppy or Georgina. You’d think as a gallerist in New York City, I’d practice a greater preference for a Post-War of Contemporary artist, but what they bring home is what I treasure most.

What is your favorite journey? Italy, amalfi coast - the coastline is boundless. You can’t beat that specific mix of salt air and rocky shore. No wonder it’s a source of inspiration for Massimo Vitali and countless others. It’s absolutely picturesque.

What is your most marked characteristic? I would hope friendly, approachable, and always polite!

When and where were you the happiest? Firstly, moving to New York has provided me constant happiness, it’s where I’ve started my family, gave birth to my girls and the place where I hope to grow old with my happy yet never perfect family.

Which talent would you most like to have? I’m not alone when I say that as a left-brainer I would love to be a mathematician. Crunching numbers is one talent we all should have.

In what museum would you like to live? The Musée berbère inside le Jardin Majorelle in Marrakech named after the Orientalist painter Jacques Majorelle. It’s a beautifully Mediterranean garden that was bought by Yves Saint Laurent et Pierre Bergé in 1980–absolutely breathtaking!

Which words or phrases do you most overuse? It would have to be either, "Let's address" or "let's look at this tomorrow"

What is your motto? Surround yourselves by smart employees!

Pick works from the Subject_ collection that you connect to the most and give us one reason those particular pieces speak to you. Carla Aparicio’s works are so provocative and cerebral. Her manipulation of space and objects within her compositions actually remind me of one of Voltz Clarke’s photographers, Xin Yi. Their photographs are graphic and geometric, it’s amazing.

What is your current state of mind? Creating, transforming, observing, always in search of endless solutions.

What is your favourite art movement or style and why? Rococo, I feel it is so busy yet peaceful at the same time.

What is your all time favourite treasured artist or artwork? The Unicorn Tapestries,  my favourite is The Unicorn is Found.

What is your favourite journey? I feel like my life is a constant journey.

What is your most marked characteristic? Creative, orderly, ambitious and sensitive.

When and where were you the happiest? Right now, this is the happiest I’ve ever been.

Which talent would you most like to have? I’d love to be a pianist.

In what museum would you like to live? Museo del Juguete in Mexico City, freaky, creepy, fun!

Which words or phrases do you most overuse? Ummmmmmm…

What is your motto? Work your ass off!

CHOOSE 3 ARTWORKS FROM THE  SUBJECT_ COLLECTION YOU CONNECT WITH AND TELL US WHY I loved Lux by Daniel Macias, I thought it was so powerful, it gets me hyper in so many ways.

Cannes 7 by Clement Jolin gives me a sense of nostalgia and peace, I can’t really explain it, it just brings me back to a place where I feel safe.

I also loved Trozo de Cielo by Brenda Franco, I feel it’s so deep, it inspires me to create, to experiment.
