3. In your opinion, what’s your best fic?

I am chronically insecure and have a habit of picking out flaws long after something has been edited and posted, so it’s hard for me to look at anything and say, “That’s the one! That one is the best!” So this is subject to change according to my mood, but right now I’m going to say All I Want is You. At least as far as one shots go. 

19. If you had to pick one fic/scene/chapter of your work to describe your entire portfolio to a stranger, which would you pick?

Already answered this one here, and it was really hard! So I’ll open it up to the audience because I genuinely curious: Do you think there’s one fic that best describes my entire portfolio to a stranger?

26. What aspect of your writing do you most enjoy to see praised?

I love it when people point out a specific bit of characterization they think I got right, or a passage that resonated with them. Especially if it’s something that is secretly one of my favorite bits. Also, in general, when I get a comment telling me that my fic was just what somebody needed because they were having a rough day and just wanted something nice and fluffy to read. As a reader I understand that and it makes me feel good to be able to provide that for others. I receive a lot of comments that note my fic is warm, or fluffy, or full of love, and I know those things aren’t for everyone so when I hear from readers that they appreciate those aspects, it makes me really happy.

23. Do you prefer listening to music when you’re writing or do you need silence?I tend to listen to music but I can write in silence if need be. Sometimes listening to music makes me write slower so I’m more likely to listen to songs I have heard a hundred times rather than new music.

44. What is the last line you wrote? It’s… not fanfiction but original stuff but since it is the last thing I wrote: “To have air is to stand with those who split the storms threatening to smother us beneath the sand.“

7) When is your preferred time to write?

That varies. Right now I’m able to get the most done during the day because I’m still unemployed and my kids are back in school. I write the best, and am at my most creative, in the evening. But the nature of having kids and a partner means I usually have other things to take care of during that time. My husband travels a lot for work, and I get a lot of writing done on those nights.

23) Do you prefer listening to music when you’re writing or do you need silence?

I do prefer music, or some sort of ambient noise, when I work. That said, I just can’t work to some types of music. I go to my neighborhood cafe to work (write, apply for jobs, etc.) once or twice a week and sometimes they’ll be playing music that’s easy to work to (Fleetwood Mac, TV on the Radio, and Radiohead were all recently heard) and other times it will be … Shania Twain. Today it’s some sort of easy listening-smooth jazz-R&B which is … not ideal, but better than Shania Twain.

38) If you could collab with any other writer on here, who would it be? (Perhaps this question will inspire some collabs!) If you’re shy, don’t tag the blog, just name it.

Oh man. I have no idea. I have talked about story ideas with a few people and worked with betas (and been a beta reader), but never pursued a full-on collab. I guess it would depend on what that looked like. Years and years ago I participated in a Baby-Sitters Club round robin fic, where every writer wrote one or two chapters, and I enjoyed being part of that. (It was also so long ago that most of the time I forget it happened.) It moved quickly, too, because while each writer was writing in response to the storyline and previous chapters, they were only on the hook for small bits. (I think they did a round robin fic in the Parks fandom, too, although I didn’t participate as a writer.) I think something like that could fun.

What I would love to do is collaborate with an artist on something. I have zero artistic talent, and can’t even really navigate graphics programs, so the visual ideas I have for my fics always go unfulfilled.

I would definitely be open to collaboration, with another writer or an artist!

G: Do you write your story from start to finish, or do you write the scenes out of order?

I write start to finish more often than not. I’m actually trying to think if I have written anything out of order. Sometimes I’ll have an idea for a scene that’s a couple scenes ahead so I either a) quickly jot down a thought about the scene so I don’t forget or b) just sit down and write up until I hit that scene.

S: Any fandom tropes you can’t resist?

Haha pretty much all of them??? For reading I’m a sucker for coffee shop AUs and soulmate AUs. Bed sharing? Sign me the fuck up.

For writing, I seem to be unable to shy away from Groundhog Day AUs. I say this because I have written one for Daredevil and am currently almost finished writing one for Check, Please!

For the made-up fic title game with Zimbits please <3 (pulling this from my own 'misc titles' doc...) "15 Minutes and a Chance"

High school au where Bitty and Jack play on different hockey teams that end up facing off against each other in the state championship. They run into each other in the hotel the night before the final because both are up late trying to walk off nerves. Even though their teams will be playing each other tomorrow, they end up hanging out for the rest of the evening, drinking vending machine hot chocolate and sharing the cookies Bitty’s Moomaw sent with him, and reassuring each other that tomorrow will be fine. 

The following day, Jack is just as impressed with Bitty on the ice as he was off the ice. This guy is cute, and kind, and plays really good hockey. He might have a crush.

Jack’s team narrowly wins the final and he doesn’t get a chance to say goodbye to Bitty because he’s whisked away to celebrate with his team. But two years later, a prospective recruit ends up touring Samwell University, where Jack is a sophomore on the hockey team. Jack knows Bitty has a few other good offers, so he’s going to use every minute he has to convince him to come play with him at Samwell.

Hmm canon divergent au where they dont come out publicly like That. They both want to get married, but they never talk about it cause of the whole thing with coming out. Theres a big climax of a will-they-or-wont-they break up, that just devolves into them finally talking about getting married, and the fic would end with them either A still coming out publicly, just a lot later, or B getting married

OR

Meet-cute type of fic where they meet at a coffee shop or something where they immediately feel the connection, but nothing happens. Maybe a 5+1 thing of they meet, and nothing happens, but the 1 time when they finally put the connection together, something like wrong place wrong time for the 5, where one or the other is in a relationship, maybe even both, jack isnt out, bitty is literally about to take a surprise baking internship in france and be not in the country for several years or something. stuff like that

I’ll be honest I completely forgot I reblogged that post ok hold on..

⭐️- how do you get your inspiration? Good question lol. Tbh it depends on the idea: things I want to see and read, things I have seen but want to apply to certain characters, sometimes prompts I’ve come across. During my stint of writer’s block I was getting all these ideas but I wasn’t a good enough writer to execute them properly and it was really frustrating to have ideas and inspiration and no way to write them. That sorta doesn’t answer the question lol but right now I’m cautious with what inspires me based off how long I know it will take me to figure out an actual plot
