“I almost got suspended today and y’know it would’ve been worth it.”
❝I thought this might have been somewhat enjoyable. I could not have been more wrong.❞
Emmeline had been averse to the whole masquerade thing from the start. Rather large, extensive gathering? No, thank you. Formal wear with required mask that was more of a pain to deal with than the people? Even more to dislike. Add to it that the mask had to stay in place until midnight, and Emmeline was just done with the evening, less than an hour in. She’d made a conscious decision to stand off to one side, avoiding dancing when at all possible - though Mary would likely not allow her to forego it the entire night, save for when she needed to refresh her drink. She had a fairly common habit of babysitting her drinks - one could easily last an hour if she drank slow enough. As she turned away from the refreshment table, she collided with another person, causing the drink to spill and Emmeline to curse. ❝Fucking Merlin.❞ Her immediate instinct was to reach for her wand, before remembering it had been left in her dormitory. ❝Masks you can’t take off, no magic, wet dress. Bloody perfect.❞
Remus’ mask is loosely tied, and very clearly shoved on in a hurry. He doesn’t mean to leave the first two buttons on his shirt undone, but as he rushed out of Gryffindor Tower, fastening them hadn’t even crossed his mind. “I’m here,” he says, out of breath as he slips into the Great Hall. “Totally not late, nope,” he mutters, his eyes drifting around them. Just as he figured, there is certainly a snack table, and it’s when he’s making a beeline for it that he nearly knocks into someone. “Oh, Godric, I’m so sorry. I saw food and my mind just went blank. Are you okay?”
Her lips were ruby red. Her feet were adorned in silver jewels, then there was her body which was wrapped in lace. Alice wasn’t one for parties, she never had been. However, when they mentioned a ball where you could hide your face - she rushed to prepare. Dateless she indeed was, lonely she indeed would not be. She could find a dance partner and she would have an amazing time even if she had to fight for it. A smile was on her lips, though it was partially hidden by the mask. Alice didn’t let that phase her though. Her eyes danced around the room before they landed on someone she thought she knew. Her movements were quick before she was in front of them. “ Hello, darling. “
Amos was only at the ball because he was told he had to be, apparently attending social events was now expected of prefects. A mask placed securely on his face he slowly sauntered into the Great Hall trying his best to spot someone he was friends with. He wasn’t having all that much luck and rather grumpily decided to lean against the wall watching the dance floor. His time could be so much better utilized, was all he could think, he still had to finish the potions essay that was due at the end of the month. Instinctively his hand moved to grab his phone before he realized someone was standing in front of him.
“Oh hey.”
"Someone please tell me that they snuck alcohol into this thing, the whole watching people dance got boring pretty quickly.”
It was the first time James was actually behaving at a party. He hasn’t brought any booze with him - neither did he thought about any pranks. As Head Boy...he was at least trying to act like a normal seventh year student. But, talking wasn’t off the radar...yet. “ So, are you having fun so far?”
