FanFic Trope: Almighty Janitor

Yukie blinked as she entered the Nara kitchen through the window, a scroll in hand. Reiko and Kyoko both paused behind her.

The scene in front of them contained Yoshino, her sword in hand, glaring at her mother in law as she pointed the weapon. Shikaku looked confused as hell but stood behind his wife as his father Shikano looked pained, his own wife Kanna looking furious as she stood between two ANBU.

“I think I’m going to go…” Yukie said out loud. “Yoshi, we have a mission.”

“She shouldn’t be taking them!” Kanna screeched.

“You tried to illegally have me resign!” Yoshino yelled. Kanna did not look ashamed even as Shikano winced hard. Shikaku made a surprised noise. Yukie grinned. Good, he sided with Yoshino without care.

“Whoa, wild.” Reiko said, leaning in the window. “How the hell did she do that?”

“She handed in a resignation form supposedly signed by me!” Yoshino growled.

“So forgery of official documents and attempted treason?” Yukie asked. “No wonder we’ve got ANBU here.” Kanna just looked more insulted. “How did you think it would work?”

“Apparently a lot of others have it happened to them.” Yoshino snapped. Yukie’s face dropped out of her amusement as she felt the two women stiffen behind her. “It’s a conspiracy with all the damn nobles in the country to enforce their bullshit stereotypes.”

“Ah.” Yukie remarked dryly. She held up the scroll. “This mission makes sense then.” She tossed it to Yoshino. “Pack for three weeks. I’ll lead us down some bandit roads so you can have fun.”

“Thank you.” Yoshino huffed.

“It should have worked! You’re just a chunnin!” Shrieked Kanna. Yukie blinked.

“Uhh what?” Yukie asked. “You like don’t know?”

“Don’t know what?!” Kanna snarled even as the two Nara men look to them, faces blank but Yukie would bet they were both confused. The two others in the kitchen didn’t move. Yukie glanced back to Kyoko who gave a nod. In the know.

“We’re Team Kamikazi.” Yukie said seriously. Kanna’s mouth dropped.

“You’re no-name chunnin who only got promoted because everyone else at the battle did!” She screeched.

“Yeah and?”

Another old snippet. Basically an AU where someone gets reborn as Yukie who ends up forming a team of sabtogers and assassins. Their entire thing is the Almighty Janitor in which all of them are assumed to be just random assholes but you know actually they’re pretty terrifying. I have had this AU in my files for like… six years? I don’t know? It’s mostly random drabbles and meta.

But yeah.

Keith wasn't very good at feelings. Never had been. On the few rare occasions he'd developed a crush on someone, he'd always just sort of… tried to push it away. Avoid the person. He wasn't big on the idea of making a fool of himself, after all. 

Which is why, when he realized he had feelings for Allura, the main thought running through his head was “crap.”

Keith hesitated. Then, with one halting, shaking hand, he reached up and tucked a piece of stray hair behind Allura’s ear. That was a thing, right? 

Allura’s breath caught, and his name fell out of her mouth in an almost whisper.

“Keith--” 

His hand dropped immediately.

“Never mind,” he said quickly, shooting to his feet. 

Allura looked up at him and frowned.

“Keith,’ she said, more sternly.

“I’ll see you around!” he said, practically running out the door. 

Back in his room, Keith hit his forehead against the wall.

Why-- (bump) --had he-- (bump) --done that?

With a groan, he fell backwards onto his pillow and screwed his eyes shut, trying to block it out.
