An Invitation
Dr. Gyro exited his bedroom and yawned. Then using his left hand the snapped his right arm more comfortably into its socket and rolled his shoulders. The soft padding of his feet on the dark carpet floors of the mansion followed him down the hall.
Mornings were always eerily quiet, especially when one chose to wake at the ungodly hour of 5 am. D.E.M was most likely passed out in her sunroom, 5-Oh in the bed in the lab, and Eldritch didn't need sleep (but sometimes chose to) so who knew where he was. Hopefully the doctor would still have a few hours of peace and quiet to work on his latest invention; He was hoping to perfect the serum in his sleep darts to extend the time it knocked someone out.
Gyro was making his way to the front door to retrieve the mail from the previous day when he saw something peculiar.
“Well that certainly looks fancy,” Gyro muttered to himself as he approached the letters that had been shoved through the mail slot. He bent down to pick up a scroll wrapped in a gold silk ribbon. He turned it over in his hands to see an intricate purple, wax seal with the letters C and H spiralled into it. Something moved behind the doctor and suddenly a clawed hand was resting on his bicep.
“Ah! Camille and Ventus have sent out their invitations I see,” Eldritch purred near Gyro’s ear. A shiver ran down the doctors mechanical spine at the closeness of his boss. “Well, go ahead and open it, my dear.” Gently, Gyro pried open the wax seal and unrolled the scroll. It read:
Greetings Fellow Villains,
I, Camille and my lovely spouse Ventus would like to formally invite you to the quinquennial Villains Ball. Bring you're sidekicks, your employees, or even your lovers (how scandalous!), but remember to RSVP with just how many people you will be bringing!
Then it continued into the details of the address, what to wear, and saying that the ball would be held in 1 weeks time. Oh? There was also something scribbled on the bottom as a P.S. in loopy handwriting.
Eldritch, darling, you best not be skipping this year as you did 5 years ago! I just won't hear of it! I know you have a sweetheart you don't want anyone to know about, but just bring them along why don’t you! Nobody would even try to touch your lover with you're kind of reputation, doll! Now RSVP that boney butt and I best see you and your partner at our place next week!
-Love, Camille ♡
As Gyro read this out loud he felt his heart drop and start flopping around in his stomach. Partner? Did Eldritch have a partner he was unaware of or...
Eldritch interrupted his thoughts by letting out a deep, raspy laugh.
“Pains in my ‘boney butt’ those two,” he chuckled. “But as they consider me a dear friend, I’d better listen to what they say, or next thing I know they’ll be kicking down my door!” Then the monstrous being stood to full height and reached down to pluck the scroll from his scientists hands. As his footsteps retreated, Gyro stood frozen by the door. That is- until he realized that his boss was calling his name.
“Yes sir?” he exclaimed as he turned quickly on heel. Eldritch grinned down at him with his sharp teeth.
“Please find yourself something suitable to wear for the ball, would you? Wouldn’t want to disappoint the hosts by showing up in your patchy lab coat.” One of Eldritch’s hat eyes closed, almost as if he was winking, and then he melted into the shadows. Gyro was left alone in the hallway, mouth gaping in shock beneath his paper bag. He could feel heat creeping up his neck and burning into the tips of his ears in a flush.
Eldritch was taking HIM to this ball when his friends had asked for his partner? Did that mean that- no, absolutely not. There was no way that Eldritch had any kind of romantic interest in a human. Much less a human who was as patched together as himself.
Gyro chased his wishful thoughts into the dark corners of his mind and shook his head. Then he straightened his lab coat and stalked back to his lab. Building things would clear his mind. At least, until D.E.M woke up...
Well! It appears that at least part of the crew is going to be going to a party in 7 days (meaning in seven asks!) Please feel free to send in asks to our crew members in the meantime!
