Hiking at Mt. Anawangin

One of the things that I recommend you guys to do when you go camping in Anawangin is to witness the majestic view of the whole Anawangin Cove from the top of Mt. Anawangin. It’s even more beautiful when you see it with the sun rising from the east like it’s Panoramic View that I caught HERE. And the best part is, you can witness the view for FREE, NO HIDDEN CHARGES.

Unlike other mountain hike activities, this is way easier. Trust me. My first ever mountain climbing experience dates back to October 2015 when we climbed Mt. Taraw in El Nido. And I never knew that I’d be able to survive it. Climbing Mt. Anawangin is just a walk in the park unlike climbing Mt. Taraw which is a walk in Jurassic Park. You can check our climb through Mt. Our hike lasted for about 15 to 20 minutes. We didn’t even need a guide to go up. The trail is easy and the path is clear so it’s easy to follow. Except when it rained I guess because it’s muddy. My sister even told me that when they went there, the one who guided them was a dog.

The mountain has many stations where you can go sight seeing. As for us, since we’re not really that athletic, we just stopped on the famous station where you can already see the whole Anawangin Cove. For others, they can go further.

The view from the top is breath taking. You'll see how serene and peaceful the place is. I really admire the Zambales locals for taking good care of it.

From there you could see the whole stretch of the mountain plus the view on the other side of the cove.

Hiking always takes my breath away literally but the prize that awaits after is what takes my breath away poetically.<3

Capones Island: White Sand Beach with Different Shades of Blue 

Just last weekend, I went for a trip to Anawangin,Zambales with my batchmates at Nokia. The package includes an island hopping trip to Capones Island - an island I never heard of, but I came to love the moment I set foot on it. If I didn’t know that I was in Zambales, I would’ve thought of this island as belonging to the islands of El Nido(See my posts about El Nido HERE). The sand is fine and white like polvoron. The waves crash on the shore harder than the waves in Anawangin but soft enough for anyone to enjoy its waters. The island is very beautiful. Even the view of the mountains from the island is pleasing and relaxing. And what amazed me the most, are the shades of blue the ocean has that is very obvious in the naked eye. It’s my first time to see the ocean that blue. The kind of blue I used to color pictures of oceans when I was still a kid. Too bad we only stayed here for 30 minutes. I have so much to tell about Anawangin but this is the one that I’m really excited to share with you guys. 

Its beauty is within reach to everyone both in distance and financially. Zambales is just 4-5 hrs away from Manila and you’ll only spend 1500 pesos all in(including food,transpo,shelter, etc.) to stay in Anawangin and visit Capones Island. For those who wanted to visit Palawan but is very low on budget, Capones Island can give you a peak of what islands in El Nido could look like except that of course, Capones is just one island and El Nido has 45 if I remember it correctly. But considering the expenses, it’s not that bad at all. I’m not stating that Capones Island looks exactly as awesome as all the islands in El Nido, but it’s features are really close to it. Capones Island is worth paying a visit. ;)
