The black clad figure swung through the night, a spider on the hunt. This particular group of criminals somewhat of a pain for the cops. Wiley bunch, with no clear pattern to the places they hit. Fast moving, often timing things with other distractions in order to get away. Finally he managed to tag them with one of his spider-tracers. Now hot on their trail, they would not be getting away from him again.
Anger laced through him and a fierce determination to take this group down. [Prey, hunt, destroy.] They had escaped too many times, caused too much destruction with their distractions. He left tonight’s to the police as he went for the source of the problems, this small gang. If they thought they could shake him again, they were so wrong.
He landed on the vehicle, the tracer located right inside hit. His grip secure despite their diving he pulled back his arm and punched through the roof. Gripping the metal, he pulled some back. “Hiyah fellas, thought you could use a sun roof, or is it a moon roof, I get those things confused.”
Chaos erupted inside the van. With the sharp warning from his spidey-senses he ducked back to avoid the gunfire. The driving which been borderline erratic to begin with, got a bit wilder. “And they won’t give me a driver’s licence, what’s the world coming to?” The quip slipped form him as he dropped inside the van.
Abruptly the vehicle took a hard right, and crashed straight into a building. The upside, the impact slowed the vehicle down and it lurched to a stop. Unfortunately it crashed right into some sort of high-scale event, people scattering with screams. The doors of the vehicle sprang open, two in the front, and one side door as three of the group tried to escape. Half the group already webbed up inside.
Spider-man leapt out, more people scattering as the chaos rolled through the group. “Oh no you don’t, your little shopping spree days are over.” Ignoring the crowd, he started to go after the fleeing criminals.”
(OOC Note: We decided to test the waters with Chatzy's. They are a lot longer than I realized xD)
Maria: Something just wasn't right about everything that was going on recently, and none of her agents were bringing back anything useful. Maria decided to take matters into her own hand and wanted to go check out a potential lead that no one had touched since discovering it. Looking over the briefing, she could tell just why. There was a building not far from the packaging district that had been abandoned suddenly due to an explosion that couldn't be explained. Reading further, she knew just who to call for backup. She went to her messager and wrote out: "Message to Janet from Agent Hill: You busy? I think I need your help."
Maria: Just as the message sent began the waiting period. Not as if she expected anything to be urgent, but after an hour of sitting around, she thought maybe Janet had ignored her. Maria never exactly gave her any reason for her trust, but she was a super, and that put the fashion expert under her watch. In the mean time, she avoided the younger agents coming up to her with false leads or paperwork they 'needed' her to sign. Inconveniences, irritants, that's really all they were. But just as she was about to call someone else for backup, she heard a blip on her messenger. She read the responded and smiled to herself. "Got something I wanted to check out. Warehouse down by the docks. You in?"
Janet: Most exciting thing she'd read all day. Grabbing a towel, she started to dry herself off and once she was decently covered, she began dictating to her phone. "Affirmative full stop I'll be there in twenty minutes full stop send." Sandals tapped the sidewalk as she rushed to shut down the holograph and put away that which shouldn't be left outside for any length of time. Time check T-18 minutes. Maybe twenty had been ambitious. Rushing as quickly as she could she got down to her quarters. As she dressed, pulling items off a spare mannequin she'd been using as a hanger for her costume, she finally put on her ear piece and inquired further. "Director Hill, what's happening?" She glanced at the clock periodically as she pulled on her bulky outfit.
Maria: Moments later she heard the blip again and she looked down. She laughed a little at the eagerness of her newly acquired partner, and shook her head. "20 minutes it is." Maria sent back, before placing the messenger in her leg satchel. She made her way down to the garage, where she picked the keys for her prized Jeep and climbed inside. It was a real trooper; made it through the cave in at the old headquarters, and hadn't failed her since. She put it in drive and peeled out to the streets. If there was one thing she hated more than dumb interns though, it was traffic. She would glance down at the clock every so often, seeing she was a couple minute behind schedule. She put on her earpiece and set it to the Avenger's frequency and she heard some static. "Janet, you okay?" She asked. The static cleared and she heard Janet's voice eventually come through as she pulled up to the docks. "Just made it to the site. Did you make it here before me?" It wouldn't surprise her, she was caught behind a grandpa for half the drive.
Janet: Great, she was already at the site and Janet was in the awkward position of not having left yet, but what was a girl to do when she had quite so many layers of combat wear to put on and hair to tie back? Well, the second was optional and after this, she was pretty sure it was high time the hair was gone. Maybe she could pull off a throw back to the nineties. "Yeah, no. Yeah. No I'm right on your heels." Opening the window to her living room she blasted a hole in the screen before taking her pill and flying through. Which direction was the warf? High salt content in the air...that way. Janet turned south and flew at her top speed to join the Director. "Found your car. I'm waving at you, can you see me?" she joked. A minute later she landed on the hood of the director's car and took a second pill to return to normal size, wings and antennae disappearing. All around she saw relatively normal things at the docks. Maybe it was happening inside?
Maria: "Sounds good," Maria said as she parked about a hundred feet away from the burnt building. It was in a lot worse condition now that everything had settled in, and as she walked forward she noticed some scorch marks along the surrounding buildings, though they weren't quite as crumbly or ashy. She looked around for any sign of Janet before getting any closer. "You sure you're going to the right place?" Maria questioned, wondering how much her vague details her counterpart understood. She walked back to the Jeep, and she Janet say she was there. She looked up and around, and caught glimpse of a tiny flying being land on the hood of her car, and then turn into a full size being. She was a little surprised at first, having not seen the transformation in a real life setting. "Good to see you made it. If you're ready, the fun's over there," She pointed off to the burnt building behind Janet.
Janet: "Yeah, pretty sure I made it here alright." She turned as directed and stared off at the building not a block away. First she was surprised she'd missed it, though there was always something looking ragged by the docks and if it hadn't burned recently, smoke wouldn't have tipped her off. Then she was just confused as to why this was their project. Surely the building burning had been tragic for whomever owned it and it was very sad if anyone was hurt but beyond that, there didn't seen to be reason to call in the national guard over this. "This building?" Even if it was about the fire, it was still unclear why they'd called her in. A fire or explosives expert would know more about this than she did. "What's wrong with this building?" She hated to say it, but it looked relatively normal.
Maria: Maria took a few steps towards the building and said, "The report for this had been sitting in the shred pile for weeks now. If it wasn't for the incident at the Chinese theater, I wouldn't have put the two together. I just figured someone with your power set maybe useful." Just from aerial pictures she could tell there were a lot of crevices that they couldn't get into, but she didn't want to force Janet into the fray right away. She wasn't like normal agents, she seemed more delicate; but that could have been an illusion from her outfit. "As for the building itself, it was a packaging center. The company is unknown, but our intelligence thinks it's for a company called AIM. If it is, I want to know what they're covering up."
Janet: Janet followed alongside, eyes still turned up at the building, trying to figure out what, exactly, had happened. If it was like the Chinese Theater, then an explosion? Maybe that didn't matter, and at any rate wasn't what she'd been called in to determine. "So you've already got an idea and you want me to poke about in the crevices and see if I find...any idea what I might be looking for?" Documents would be burned, most likely. AIM paraphernalia could still be intact, though not out of place if it was in a packaging building. If they'd gotten anyone in at all , they might have some ideas. As she spoke, Janet settled her wasps stings a little more firmly on her forearms so the leather gloves wouldn't chafe. Even as they approached the building she could see the way the building had collapsed; there was little chance a full size person could fit in and there was no way to get rid of a wall without the whole building collapsing. "Ah~" she breathed in comprehension of the situation.
Maria: To be truthful, she wasn't sure if they would find anything, though looking couldn't hurt. "Anything, really. Anything that may have caused the fire. There has to be something the police missed." She said as she pulled a travel scanner from her leg satchel. She wanted to go in herself, but there was too much debris for it to be safe. She turned on the scanner and watched the screen get a small 3D image of what was inside. "Shit." She said, "My scanner will only go about five feet in." A lot of help that would do, with the building being more than 5x5 feet. Shutting it off, she looked around and said, "Let me see if I can find a safe way in. Do you wanna go in now, and I'll find a way to join you?" Maria asked, hoping she wouldn't be stuck outside the whole mission. It wasn't often she got out, and she wanted to make the most of it.
Janet: Anything? Janet leaned in a little and craned her neck up to get a preliminary view of what might be up there, chart a flight path in her mind. "Wicked." She turned back to Director Hill and took the pill container off her belt. "I'll keep in touch via head set, poke around and see what happened." She'd heard cases of companies setting their buildings on fire to get insurance. Depending on if you could prove you hadn't done it, you could get rich that way. She swallowed the pill and hovered for a moment in front of the director before giving a little solute and heading over the four feet of rubble and inside. Ten feet in and things cleared up, though past the second floor looked impossible to reach, and judging by the footprints in the ash, nobody had tried. They also pointed to the preferred entrance. "The second floor collapsed over the entrances, but the window's been used." She flew over to it and pushed it open before retreating back inside. "If you trust the stairs, you could technically get to the second floor. Though most of that's gone and what's left is mostly covered by the third." She wouldn't at gunpoint but she wasn't a soldier. Flying up, she attained an areal view of the building.
Maria: Maria nodded and she watched as Janet just hopped her way inside. She was a lot more daring than anticipated, which was good to know. Listening to Janet's updates through the headset, she ran around the building to the window that had just been opened. It was too high up, and she didn't see any way to get to the window. "Where are these stairs you're talking about?" Just from the description, she was starting to think she shouldn't be going in at all, but that didn't really want to stop her. "Don't worry about getting me inside, just start looking for clues," Maria directed as she surveyed a nearby burnt section. "How destructive would it be if I broke a hole in this wall?" She asked as she began calculating the smallest effective blast she'd need that would do minimal damage to the remains of the warehouse.
Janet: Janet flew to the third story window and looked down. Ah, clearly someone before had a ladder to get in; it was at least three feet over Director Hill's head. Hard to judge heights, though, from where she stood with no reference. "The stairs are...from where you're standing the far wall to your left. They lead up to a loft sort of second floor. Clear of most of the damage. Technically." The rest of the floor was littered and splintered or simply not there. The third floor was actually looking less sound, not more. Interesting that the explosive either became more powerful higher up or detonated up here. Less likely that someone who wasn't supposed to be here was the one who started it. "That wall looks...if you're going to break the wall, do it at the center, away from the corners."
Maria: Looking over to the opposite end of the wall, she could kind of see the stairs. They were masked from this side from the scorch marks, and she made her way over. Hopping up into the stairway she carefully made her way up, trying not to keep too much weight on the same spot. They were sturdy enough, but one could never be too careful. When she made it to the top, she looked out at the ruins. She sighed, and realized this may be more work than she anticipated. She couldn't see to much from the top, everything was more or less black. "No need to blow up the wall, I'm up here. I can't see you though, what's your 20?" Maria asked, as she began searching for a safe way to the bottom floor. There was a particularly large piece of material at about a seventy degree angle from the loft to a pile on the ground and was deciding it was her best bet. "I'm gonna try and make it down to the ground, see if I can find anything."
Janet: "I'm in a corner." She looked around for Director Hill and when she found her she gave better directions. "I'm in the far corner, half a floor down." Maybe she'd found something of interest, or maybe it was just nothing at all. A blackened concrete support beam showed three long stripes of unharmed material amidst the black. Maybe something had blocked it that had later fallen, or maybe something had been there and had been taken away. "Careful, the floor's splintered and there's debris still coming down." She started hunting around for more marks that looked the same. If it was a recurring pattern, then it was safe to assume that the building had just fallen apart after being thoroughly burned up. If not, then it might be something. "We've got four floors, right?" Offices would be higher in the building and that floor looked minimally damaged.
Maria: Looking warily down the beam, she heeded Janets words and started down anyway. She pulled herself around and carefully gripped to the burnt material and walked herself down. "Four floors? I thought you said there were only thr-whoa--" She clung tightly as she started to slip, hearing a crunching halt beneath her boots. No more talking while descending, she thought to herself, and she eased herself down, avoiding a pile of sharp looking burnt stuff. "It looks like there's some conveyor belts that weren't completely melted. If I could just - get over to them - maybe there's something left," She said, as she hopped over a couple fallen support beams. "Find anything useful?"
Janet: "Ground floor, these two...I'm thinking there might be an office somewhere. Unless that's what the heap of rubble is. I'm going to check it out." The rubble, first, to safe herself the trouble of finding an entrance that might not exist. Starting to look through the giant pile of rubble that had been blocking the door, she kept an eye on Director Hill, in case something terrible went wrong. "I found some marks, but I'm not sure what caused them." As she looked through the collapsed second floor, she found puddles of plastic with metal parts sticking out. Rods, badly bent out of shape. It would be useful to know if it had come from the second or third floor, though her guess would be second. "The color gradation on the walls is interesting. There's a slight difference above each floor layer compared to it under the floor." it was all burned but it was darker above each line.
Maria: "What do you mean interesting?" She said, as she began brushing a mountain of black dust off the belt. She sifted through the ash, that formed in different sized piles down the line until it ended at a mass of melted machinery. She wasn't finding anything of interest, but by the sounds of it, Janet was and that was important. One of them was being productive. Deciding she wasn't going to find anything of use, she made her way over to the semi-liquified machine that was now unidentifiable. Maria reached out her hand to touch it, and her foot dragged forward, kicking something that started rolling. Looking to the ground, a half shattered vial could be seen beneath a hunk of ceiling. Picking it up, she looked it over and said, "I found something down here. There's a half broken vial down here that seemed to be untarnished. Think this could have been part of the cause, or just a coincidence?"
Janet: "Ahhh..." Janet didn't really know if it was or not. "If there was something inside it that you think caused the explosion, you mean? If it's cloudy and broken in half, then it could have been a screw top test tube." Glycerin was potent enough to make that kind of explosion. So were a few other compounds she could think of, but she was by no means an end all be all repertoire. "When I was little I used to put dry ice in them and they'd explode like that." But the ice hadn't made the glass cloudy nor would it make an explosion that big. It had been just enough to scare her dad and get her kicked out of the lab for bothering him while he was working. So it could have been an explosion, depending on the compound. She'd have to ask around, or Maria would. "Or it could have just broken falling from the third floor. I'm starting to get the feeling that's where the explosion took place." And there seemed to have been secondary fires all over the place after that.
Maria: Glycerin? Maria didn't think about that one. "I don't see anything cloudy, but I'll keep looking for other ones." For all she knew they just happened to have extreme heat proof vials all over the place, but that only raised more questions. Maria looked up to the third floor where Janet was, and she wondered if she'd be able to find a way up there. She took all that effort coming down, going back up would almost be pointless as most of the remains would have gone down to her floor. "What makes you think it was up there? What do you see?" She asked, wishing she had a proper scanner. The little bulbs could easily get up there, but having a human relay wasn't a bad alternative.
Janet: "Well, I'm just guessing. But up here, there are some really clear burn marks. Like the wall in cinder block and it looks like something grate-like got burned to it. I can see the little lines. And then the way the floor's mostly gone, where the second collapsed. Like a concussion." The heat might not have gotten to it as badly, but the pressure had made it buckle almost completely. "The one thing I'd say goes against it is that the ceiling's still intact and nowhere near as badly scorched as the walls and floor. Unless there was some kind of protection. If it was under something else." She wished she had a camera or other visual, and the pantomime she was doing was even less visible than the marks on the wall. "I guess there's no way of knowing if there was a metal desk or anything in the way if it's all crashed and burned now."
Maria: As Maria looked around, she really could only see ash and the melted machine in front of her, which was right below a gaping hole in the ceiling. "Y'know, you may not be too far off from that assumption..." Maria said, as she looked up through the hole. She took a step back and dazed off for a moment as her mind tried to connect things together. While she didn't have an actual scenario, the only thing she could think of was that something caught fire up top and fell through. There wasn't any kind of outline on the machine from being fallen into, which meant whatever it was probably disintegrated but kept the fire going long enough to melt. Coming back to reality, she looked up at the ceiling again. "Hey Janet, have you ever heard of a thing called Extremis?"
Janet: "Extremis? No, can't say I have." She looked about for a bit more, trying to see if she had anything else worth noting. There simply wasn't much of the third floor left, but she came back down to the second to check it out, one more time. "Is that what this is about?" If she was looking for something specific, something that had happened once before, she could have told Janet the sorts of key signs rather than making her search them out on her own. No, that wasn't how science worked. One couldn't go into things knowing what to expect. "Some kind of explosion thing gone bad?" scratched at the wall for a moment before deciding that the scratch was either old or didn't matter. She went down to the first floor again, dropping onto what was left of the conveyor belt.
Maria: "Extremis was this highly experimental project that AIM began developing back in the early 2000's. It was supposed to be a cure, but after one of the test subjects exploded I was told they scrapped the deal." That was before her time at SHIELD. She was still in the military when that happened, but they had a service for the soldier who supposedly died. "Something tells me by the state of this place, they didn't throw everything out...or someone else got their hands on the research." She finished her explanation just as Janet finished her descent down to her floor. "I mean, I don't have any actual proof that's what happened. Hopefully the bio team can get something off this vial..."
Janet: "Huh. That's not what I was thinking at all." Well that certainly changed things. She'd thought that it was perhaps a planted bomb or a really bad gas leak. But an exploding patient and stolen research changed the way she was approaching this entirely. Now there was motive beyond wanting the place destroyed, there was a motive so strong that someone was willing to lay down their life for it. "Do you think it was revenge then?" Or maybe they didn't know that it was going to happen. And did the Director know how it was turned on and off? And did they? It sounded a little bit like they just exploded but surely they wouldn't have been in the AIM building unless they knew. "Or were they being used?"
Maria: Maria shrugged and folded her arms, careful not to damage the vial still in her hand. "No idea. It's just assumptions at this point, but the damage done looks similar to the file I read." She turned around and surveyed the ground floor again and huffed. She really hated fires, because it meant that meant little evidence and a lot of imagination. If there was something she hated more than anything, it was not knowing. Especially in a time where everything depended on the knowledge she could obtain to keep people safe. She sighed and looked back to Janet. "Anything else you wanna look at, or should we find a way out of here?"
Janet: Janet was fairly sure she'd seen everything about three times over. That didn't mean she hadn't missed anything, but if they really needed something else, she could come back again, that time with a camera so there would be better evidence. Besides, the roof was intact to the extent where they could stand a day or two. "I don't think it'll make too much difference." Now that she was standing, she stretched from side to side, twisting so that her spine cracked loudly. She still had the tendency to get stiff from flying too much, thought her weekly massages were helping. "If you'd like photographs I wouldn't mind returning in the next day or two." She had her way out. Maria had given up hers.
Maria: Nodding, she said, "I'll send you with one of the newer scanners, that way they'll record everything they see and we can have people analyze it." She tried to assess the best way out of the place, and it ended up being just the same way she came in. She eyed the pillar she climbed down on menacingly, and started making her way in its direction. This was the simplest mission she had been on. There weren't any injuries so far, despite the conditions, and everything was...lining up. It was eerie, that rarely happened in her line of work, but she knew karma would be biting her later on for it. Maria stopped and gazed up at the second floor, where she needed to be, and then to the pillar next to her at eye level. "Hey Janet, you don't happen to know an easier way out do you?"
Janet: An easier way out. Well, she'd said the window first, but that was eight feet off the ground and with the tables were either unstable or ash at this point. "We could try and clear the door." She looked up at the three stories of unsupported building. Maybe that wasn't the best idea if they needed pictures still. Increasingly complex solutions jogged through her mind as she tried to figure how to get her back to the second floor without injury. Then she got a little tickle of an idea in the back of her mind. Usually she wouldn't suggest this. She had a finite number of pills on her and in a combat situation she needed them for herself. But they weren't in a combat situation and there was strong cause. Before suggesting it, she looked around one more time. Short of waiting for a ladder or hoping they didn't knock the building down, there weren't many options. "I could airlift you out. If you have no objections to feeling woozy for a few minutes." It felt weird, but she'd grown to like it over time.
Maria: Maria looked over to the main entrance, which was blocked by ash and parts of the fallen building. She had already gotten enough dirt on herself, and she knew she'd never be able to lift anything out of the way. "I'm not sure about the door...seems like a lot more trouble than it's worth." Glancing about the room for other opportunities of escape, she saw the window from before but it was still too high for her to get to. When Janet suggested an airlift, Maria stifled a laugh. "You sure you can do that?" She didn't really know much about how Janet was in small form, but the idea of being lifted by something an inch tall was amusing. "If you can get me back up to the second floor, I can handle the rest."
Janet: Why was Director Hill looking at her like that? Of course she could lift someone. She thought that, if not on file, it was just common sense that she'd be able to hold and lift while flying. "Yes, I routinely do it for Hank." When there were no ants around, she could pick him up and travel at least to safety to regroup. "And you've got a much smaller frame than he does." Sure that they were on the same page, she took her enlarging pill so she could take out the others. "Nervous?" She would be if she was the one without wings in this situation. Holding out her palm with two pills, she waited for Director Hill to take one. This would be good.
Maria: When Maria realized Janet was serious, she eyed the other woman curiously when she enlarged herself again. She watched her pull out two of her little pills and then hold them out. She carefully picked one up and stared at it for a moment before looking up to Janet. "What exactly will this do to me?" Maria asked. She figured it would make her small, like Janet, but the idea was...unsettling. It didn't make her nervous, but she was never presented with such a thing before.
Janet: Oh, she'd had to explain what it was like before, but she usually gave an answer like "exhilarating" where people would be pleased and she wouldn't have to think too hard. "Well, it only takes a second. If you've ever put on a corset, it's like that, but everywhere. Just really compressed. But then, all your molecules are compressed really tight so you'll feel like you have all the energy in the world. It'll take all of a minute to get you out of here, though. The other one can make you light headed if you're hungry, sometimes. Of course I'm only speaking from personal experience." Her hand wavered in a so-so gesture.
Maria: After a good thirty seconds of consideration, Maria decided it would be best to just take it then pretend it didn't happen. Most of her didn't like having to rely on anything super related to get her out of situations, but since this was almost an off-the-books mission, and all the other ways out would take more effort than they were worth. With a heavy sigh, she put the broken vial in her pocket, and popped the pill in her mouth. As soon as it hit the back of her throat she felt the change. Every part of her body was collapsing in and shrinking rapidly, and by the time she was an inch high, she fell to the ground. Picking herself back up to her feet, she brushed herself off and looked back to Janet. "Does it feel like that every time?"
Janet: Janet gently preened her wings as they unfolded. "Yes," she said, a little distractedly as she sensed her surroundings out of habit. Even a moment could change everything. Attention back on the director she walked over to her. "Are you feeling okay? I'm sure it's nerve wracking." It had been the first time for her, and that had been with animal parts sprouting from her person. "I promise there's nothing dangerous about any of this." The director would feel in a moment that she had retained her full strength. It would take active aggression for Janet to drop her or anything of the sort.
Maria: Her body settled rather quickly into this smaller size and she took a few breaths in and out. Her lungs were so small now, but she didn't want to think about it or any of her other organs. The whole adventure so far made her queasy, and she managed to squeak out, "I'm fine. Lets just get out of here." She approached Janet now, not sure how the little wings would carry them both. They were Pyms invention, though. He wouldn't have made something that would render her weak, and Janet already mentioned how she's carried him before. Maria just kept telling herself it would all be over soon.
Janet: Janet could see that the director was clearly and grossly uncomfortable. Approaching, she laid a hand on her shoulder. “Try and breathe normally. Mice breathe this quickly, but you’ll just hyperventilate.” Walking around behind Director Hill, she slid her arms up under the other’s, careful to avoid scraping her with the large wasp stings mounted there. “Hold your arms stiff.” This hook like grip between Janet’s elbows and Maria’s shoulders would serve the dual purpose of keeping someone’s hands to themselves, and would let her see what was happening, where they were going. “I’m just going to take us through the window, then turn back to the car, okay?” Then, when she felt the stiffness in Director Hill’s shoulders, she carefully lifted off, gaining altitude as she approached the window, trying not to do anything to spook her.
Janet: Janet watched, stifling a laugh at Director Hill's newness to all of this. Both her and her partner were at a point where they could change size under high stress situations without ever losing their balance or missing a beat. But there was a certain level of discomfort, too, in Director Hill's demeanor. Her breathing, for one. "Try and breathe normally, or you'll hyperventilate, same as always. Your body still works." It was just tiny now. Explaining the best position, she walked up to the director. "I'm going to hold you from behind, okay?" She tucked her arms under Maria's so that her elbows hooked under the other woman's arm pits. "Just hold stiff, okay?" The instant she felt a little resistance she lifted off and flew in a steady beeline to the window a few feet away.
Maria: Maria didn't know what she meant by 'breathe normal'. Deep breaths still felt shallow. Her lungs kept filling too quickly, not being used to the fraction of their actual size. After a few cycles in and out, she felt her queasiness subsiding, and she figured that was the best she could hope for. She nodded at all of Janets questions during that time, and she braced herself as Janet got behind her. The Wasp stood a few inches shorter than her, and hoped that wouldn't make that big a difference. A few seconds after Janet's arms wrapped around her abdomen, they were in the air. It was a strange feeling - flying. In an instance she could be plummeting to the ground, but she still felt oddly secure despite her apprehensions. They passed through the window and out into the world where they 'gently' dropped to the ground.
Janet: Janet honestly was trying not to jostle her too much, but hardwired flight patterns were difficult to alter, the top and go nature swinging her human cargo a little more than might make the other woman strictly comfortable. Through the window, she went ahead and landed, in favor of bringing her to the jeep. There was a place where everyone was comfortable, and thought she was quiet, the waves of nerves were easy enough to sense. It was no myth that creepy crawlies could sense your fear. In a bit of a tumble--it probably didn't hurt her too badly--she dropped the director down the last inch or so and then landed heavily next to her. "There, that wasn't so bad." She brushed the imaginary dust and dirt off of her outfit, shaking out her arms. Thank goodness for the reinforcements. "You did very well." She sneeked a sly look over at Director Hill. Maybe she'd shaken the stoic woman.
Maria: Once on the ground, Maria took a few steps away from Janet and rubbed her rib cage a little. It was sore from being carried, she couldn't imagine how Janets arms may have felt. Shen she turned around, it looked like she didn't think anything of it and was ready to go for...whatever their next adventure was. She straightened herself up and brushed herself off before saying, "Thanks, I guess." She looked over to her Jeep which was still parked just beyond the next warehouse and she added, "We should be getting back. Or I should, anyway." Sizing up herself, sighed. "So is this permanent, or do I have to take one of those pills again?"
Janet: Janet started, making an immediate move for her belt and the pills she kept there. "Yes. Yes you do." She took it out and handed it to Director Hill, then closed her fingers around it so she could give a recommendation. "But you might want to stay sitting for this one so you don't get a head rush. It's a lot farther to fall if you get knocked off your feet." Not that she didn't think the director could take a fall, but she'd been clearly surprised by the effects of the other pill. Again she extended her hand, palm open. Alternatively she could plant a wide stance and hope for the best.
Maria: She kind of glared at Janet for a moment, not really sure if she should take the advice. On one hand, she didn't want to fall again like she did inside the building. On the other, she didn't want to seem like she couldn't handle whatever was thrown at her. But because this was something beyond normal circumstances, she rolled her eyes and took the pill before sitting on the ground a few feet back from the wall. She plopped the pill in her mouth and waited a few seconds before swallowing it. Whether or not she was prepared wasn't her concern, she just wanted to be big again so she could forget this whole thing. Lo and behold, just as Janet mentioned, a huge rush of muscle stretching and bone enlarging went through her body - like she had aged from birth to adult hood in a matter of seconds, she was normal size again. At least it didn't hurt, but she was glad she took the sitting advice. She held her head and shook off some slight dizziness. 'Mark that on the list of things I never want to do again', she mentally noted before slowly getting up to her feet. "You do this a lot, don't you?"
Janet: Janet kept her distance and then moved so she could hang in the air in front of Maria, watching that she was indeed perfectly fine. The pills were weird at first, but absolutely harmless. “Yeah, six years now since they were developed. Every day, usually multiple times a day.” It was as much a part of her life as getting her period on a regular basis. She fluttered to rest on Director Hill’s shoulder, her usual perch when she had a big person to provide one for her. “So I’ve gotten used to it. At first it was pretty weird, but I’ve actually grown to enjoy it.”
As Director Hill walked, her wings stretched out to the sides and moved gently so she could keep her balance, every now and then tapping the other woman’s SHIELD uniformed shoulder or neck. “Kind of a fun whoosh feeling, although I’ll tell you, it’s true what they say about eating six small meals a day with this kind of physical stress.” Not enough food and she’d get light headed, but too much and she’d feel nauseous . “By this point, it’s just a safe sort of thrill you get with the pills. Good fun.”
Maria: Six years seemed like a long time to Maria, especially considering Janet would have only been a teenager when all that began. She was unsure the details; she didn't really look much into Pyms work. Most of that was direction from Fury, not wanting to invade his privacy or something. It didn't matter to her either way, if the information was necessary she would have read through it by now. It was still odd though, the idea of being able to change your size in a matter of seconds. The tiny woman was nearly weightless as she sat down on her shoulder while Maria started walking back to her Jeep. She held onto her stomach when she mentioned the small meals, hoping that wouldn't cause her problems later on. Maria let out a chuckle as she opened the door to the vehicle and looked down at the woman on her shoulder. "Say that to the wrong person and they'll think you have a problem." She shook her head and sat down in the drivers seat and turned it on. "I'm gonna take this stuff back to headquarters, see what we can find out from the samples. I'd prefer if you not be on my shoulder as I drive," Maria added as she shifted into drive and started back to SHIELD HQ.
