do you have a list of books that people consistently say they love that makes you think that they don't read? i was at a bar and some girl said her favorite book was catcher in the rye and i tripped over two bar stools as i tried to get away from her
You told me this story before but you said you knocked the drink out of her hand.
List of books that would make me cry/ never want to talk to someone ever again:
1. Anything by Nicholas Sparks
2. Twilight and all ensuing calamities.
3. I mean, I like the beat writers but if I am talking to someone and their list of favourite authors is, "Bukowski, Burroughs Hunter S. Thompson, Jack Kerouac, you know, cool guys like that" then I will think they are a knob.
4. War and Peace. If someone likes/has read that book then they are either boring, a liar, really stubborn or all of the above.
5. If someone says their favourite book is Of Mice and Men/ To Kill a Mockingbird/ Kestrel for a Knave/ The Catcher in the Rye/ The Great Gatsby then what they are really saying is "that is the only book I hae ever read in full and that was only because we had to read it for english class". So yeah.
6. Jodi Picoult (see Nicholas "fuckface" Sparks)
I know I've written this list and I do really sort of believe the whole thing, but it still makes me feel kind of shit. Because any and all of the above are better than people who actually never read a thing and are proud of it, you know, the ones who put, "i dnt read not my thing lol" in their books section on facebook. I think what I'm saying is, I don't want to be a dick about this, and people should read whatever they want to. Even if it's really stupid.
