One of Bali, Indonesia’s most breath-taking sites is the Tegallalang Rice Terraces, which has been listed as UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is a vast expanse of beautifully arranged rice paddies carved from the hillsides by ancient Balinese farmers following the traditional Balinese irrigation system called subak. One of the most breathtakingly beautiful sights I’ve seen during my Bali trip is the Gunung Kawi Sebatu Temple. Dedicated to the Hindu god Vishnu who is said to hold dominion over water, it is marked by spectacular water features (including bathing pools for pilgrims), fountains teeming with carp and lush gardens.
