What is the difference between “cottagecore” and like surf lifestyle brands or “the mountains are calling” or “gone fishing” or bumper stickers of deer antlers or birding clubs or collecting national parks stamps or painting landscapes or wanting to go to large sports arenas or driving cars on paved streets and highways or agriculture and eating factory farmed meat????
What is so wrong with young woman posting pictures of meadows and gardens and poems about how they long live off the grid and run free through the woods? (Wonder why they’d want that...) How did that become like the ultimate modern example of colonialism and manifest destiny? Especially when it’s just reserved to like social media tags and Pinterest boards??? Is that really more harmful than any other directly violent cultural practice and aspect of infrastructure? So much so that you need to publically shame people for being interested in it?
