i just need people who make statements about """the media""" to be a lot of more specific
#WHICH MEDIA#THERE ARE SO MANY MEDIA#even 'mainstream media' feels difficult to grasp#i just need someone to break down exactly what we mean#especially in class discussions and stuff#sick of talking about the media as a monolithic force#it undermines all the great things that are also media#and begins to sound like just... technology is bad#like come on#also talking about what we absorb when we look at our phones all day- the content we are looking at is often very different-#the internet is BIG#it is interesting to hear what parts of the internet other people spend time on#but without knowing that how do we even know what we're talking about ??#anyways... this has been A Tangent
