He felt happy. For once in a good while, Steve just felt happy. Like he had a stable place. But Bucky had always made things feel a little more stable for him. And having his best friend back-- right mind and all-- was something he could never thank God or the Wakandans or whoever enough for. 

“Do you remember all the times you dragged me off to those dance halls?” he asked, and he didn’t really expect Bucky would... but hell, maybe it would help a memory come back. And the stories were fun enough. “Back when I was still telling people I was studying art?” He had been taking classes, of course, but ‘studying’ sounded like he was doing more.

Enigma. It’s the not the first time he’s heard himself described that way. Multiple articles, interviews, etcetera. But that’s only because people never take the TIME, never care about looking past the front he puts out. And sometimes it just gets so fucking exhausting. It’s times like that- like tonight -that he turns to things like alcohol...which he may have overindulged in just SLIGHTLY. He certainly wouldn’t be getting so personal like this with Barnes of all people otherwise.  ❝ Of fuckin’ course not. Soft. Gentle. These were not words normally associated with Bucky, though he really had no reason to worry what others thought of him. Natasha had tried to block out other’s opinions of her. She knew how she came off -- cold, unfeeling. But she knew that she was more than that even if others presumed differently -- she just chose to close herself off for her own emotional safety.

“That’s not all you are, Barnes. You’re more than your anger. The hurt that you feel.” Natasha had bottled it all up and swallowed it away, but she figured it was the reason she was so closed off today. Bottling it up hadn’t done her any good but it was what she continued to do.

“You just need someone.” She paused, trying to find the right words. “I have a hard time relying on people to help me but having someone... it helps. Even just talking like this.” To find someone that really understood was a different story -- that was what she struggled with the most.

“I just don’t want you to think that you’re a monster. Because you’re the furthest thing from that.”

Despite himself, Bucky can't help but smile. An exasperated rumble of a half-laugh shakes his chest more than it's heard. "Are you trying to bore me to death?" Just to sleep, James knows. He turns his head, nose brushing the fabric covering Tonys stomach as his eyes close. "Alright, fine. Give me the soil lullaby."

Tony chuckles, and he rumples Bucky’s hair before letting his hand settle, cupping the back of the brunet’s neck. “Maybe you’ll find it interesting.” 

He clears his throat.

Tony raises an eyebrow at the other man, smirking as he walks up to him and takes the darts off the bar. He’s had a few drinks already- well, maybe more than a few -and while generally the dark BROODING type aren’t his thing, that shirt does fit Barnes very very nicely. He’s fucking hot. No way around it.  ❝ I’ll do ya one better. ❞  He grabs a fistful of the man’s shirt and pulls him in for a sloppy kiss. He grins when they part and pats Bucky’s ass, nudging him towards the dartboard.  ❝ Good luck. ❞
