Some amazing level of craft in this, some amazing level of wayward Paris approximation too, but just came off too potboiler to carry the weight of its story. It follows that 30s B movie disregard of plot over a need to entertain, but if it did devote itself to story and wrenching the heart through its wonderful set up it could have been great. But it is a 60 minute story of common people who have to live always in motion so maybe a skirting of depth and consequence works to that reality
