WhimseyBox-Julio

Whimseybox!
So I've been busy with my dad being sick, Easter and me being sick, and then my dad's minor surgery, recovery, and then helping him with some work. Obviously crafting has taken a bit of a back seat. However, I've done several smaller projects (no sewing ones, though!).
I received my March Whimseybox in the mail. For the uninitiated, Whimseybox is a monthly craft project that is chosen and sent to you by these lovely people. They have lots of DIY and craft project ideas on the website. I also get the emails which often have projects I've not yet seen on Pinterest.
March's Whimseybox was the "Soft Hands" box; you got to make your own homemade sugar scrub and hand lotion. Mine were honey lavender scented, though lemon honey was the other option. My very good friend SarahP introduced me to Whimseybox and had gotten a 3 month subscription as a Christmas gift. March was her last month and since she'd also gotten the honey lavender. We decided to make it together.
All natural products were used-- cold pressed sweet almond oil, white sugar, refined coconut oil, beeswax, virgin shea butter, honey, and lavender essential oil. The final products did end up smelling very nice, though SarahP and I only used a fraction of the suggested amount of lavender oil.
Ultimately, this wasn't my favorite. January's beaded necklace kit and February's bird felting kit looked much more my groove. The almond oil doesn't stay completely contained in the sealed container-- so the sugar scrub can leak if you're not careful and the box tips. The lotion also felt a bit greasy-- so it's one of those lotions you have to be careful when you wear it.
Also. I'm now side-eyeing all those honey-infused beauty products as honey didn't NOT play well with others. It kept falling to the bottom and not wanting to mix into solution.
The best part of it was doing it with SarahP. We watched The Guild while waiting for our 10 minute incubations in the fridge for the lotion. We both earned our Soft Hands completion badge! Fwee!
Also, guess who got herself a blog on blogspot?! Yep, that's me! For more written and less reposting of other tumblr pictures, go here.
