May 22, 2026 - South Pare White-eye (Zosterops winifredae) Found only in a small area of northeastern Tanzania, these white-eyes live in heath at the edges of mountain forests. Their diet is unknown, but most white-eye species feed on invertebrates and some eat plant foods such as nectar, fruit, and seeds. While nothing is known about their breeding behavior, related species build open cup-shaped nests. They are classified as Vulnerable by the IUCN as their small population is thought to be declining in their tiny range due to habitat loss.

Nosa' luta (Rota White-eye, Zosterops rotensis), illustrated for future use in my own reports/publications/whatever involving this species and other birds of Rota, CNMI. Endemic to the island, critically endangered, and full of boisterous energy.
