White’s method
Hello everyone,This section include the method used in
White’s method
A tomato plant that was systemically infected with TMV was used.
It’s stem was cut into segments and washed thoroughly
These segments were suspended by threads in conical flask containing little water
And allowed to develop roots
After some time placed in 50 ml of a nutrient broth.
The tips were allow to grow for about a week.
Tips were cut into 1 cm and sub- cultured into fresh medium.
The sub-cultured root tips were then removed and used for studies
Using this technique ,it has been possible to culture other viruses such as tobacco necrosis virus and wound tumor virus.
