right? like! yeah, theoretically a 5th grader could write this. it doesnt have words they couldn’t know and the sentence structures are mostly in line with casual American speech. but would a 5th grader write like, 95k now of fic? I liked writing when I was in 5th grade but back then 2000 words was a strain. I had no stamina. in what world is this an average 5th grader writing. and i have like, symbolism. i feel like you’ve gotta get to at least middle school before you get to symbolism. Have I totally lost track of how writing education works?? where are these 5th graders???
#j no#not to rag on young writers but like#if i look at my writing catalogue#i've written a LOT#like over 400k words on ao3#which isn't even everything i've written#just the things i've liked best over the past 6 years#and stuff before that is on ye olde ff.net#if the average 5th grader is writing in the same way as i am after all that practice i am going to eat my hat#it will taste like cloth and chemical dye and it will be terrible but i will have no other choice#....anyway i'm not actually that upset about it i'm just kind of bewildered#why is word like this#who coded that#elara-moon
