chose heisei[GotU] Gamera for this, since I think he fits the bill the best. not sure how well i did with mimicking the effects in the original poster, but here he is!

I don't think ive ever taken a moment to really choose a fav rocket turtle design... By process of elimination, I can say it's between Shōwa and Heisei as I personally am not the biggest fan of Avant, Toto, and Rebirth Gamera.
A year ago I probably would have said his look in Revenge of Iris is my fav, now though, i'd have to say i like his classic Shōwa design the most. Tragically, one of my cringe fake-fan traits is that I can barely tell the different Shōwa Gamera suits apart [not that they really have any major differences], but i'd say I'm fondest of his look in Vs. Gyaos and onward! Super Monster not included.
I enjoy how hes kinda just a pancake with lil arms and legs sticking out and there's something really endearing to me about his head, even if i find it impossible to draw. I don't actively dislike any of his Heisei designs, i love how pointy he is in G3 and I like his shell and plastron details!
Shōwa may not be the coolest or most intimidating, but he absolutely sweeps in the "shaped like a friend" category.

hmmmmm.... you know what, good question. A disproportionate amount of my fav monsters seem to have beaks. Beaks with teeth at least.
