Hi, I just began to follow you. You seem to write quite often. As a writer, myself, I was curious about how you prevent, or get over, writer's block? Also, with all of your poetry (and it's all beautifully written, by the way) do you find yourself writing for the sake of writing, or do you write more for personal reasons? (Feel free to publish this, no need for anonymity.)
I write because I have an ache if I don’t. My mind buzzes overwhelmingly, like a never ending headache. I write very personally when circumstances call or when I have something very personal to say. I also write when something strikes me, like another piece of writing, or a book or movie, or if I am travelling or just out in the world somewhere and fall into reverie of sublime beauty. I do write just to write though, when nothing has struck. I try to write at least one poem a day whether I feel it or not. Also a good practice is to play with structure, trying out new forms or experimenting with things, sometimes just the manner of the way the words go down can inspire something new. Whether its good or not. Getting ideas on paper is a great feeling, and the best way to keep your tools sharp. Usually though when I have writers block I sit it out. I put some ideas down and I write some poems that aren’t very good and just wait for the well to refill. Patience is key, and it’s always good to keep those back-up ideas or just words and lists somewhere so when you are feeling uninspired you have stuff to draw from and rework. That is how I do it any how. I hope this make some sense and is helpful.
