Is this thing on?

Well, here I am. This is probably going to go the way of my old blogs (three posts, all apologising for not posting more often) or my Twitter account (no posts in months, only being used for keeping up with breaking news), but still. Everyone else has one and I can't bring myself to vaguebook, so here it is. Mercenary Bibliotechnician is kind of clunky, I know, and stemmed from a joke with a teacher friend who had coined the superb "mercenary pedagogue" to describe her occupation. Bibliotechnician doesn't have the same ring. Honestly, I'm thinking of changing it to Librarian of Fortune. And, yes, my avatar at time of typing is of Yahtzee's PC Gamer Master Race guy. I'll change it when I think of something better. My header image is supposed to be from a Caravaggio painting of Saint Catherine, patron saint of librarians, but apparently you can't drag a header image to the bit you want like you can with avatars. Oh well. I'll figure out this Tumblr lark eventually. Anyhoo, enjoy, if you like. Don't get your hopes up.

Another week down. These last two weeks have really flown by. When I think back it seems like no time has passed at all, but when I look at my old code, it seems like I've had years more of experience and can't hold back a grimace at that old spaghetti. Today I had a fantastic partner - we didn't necessarily get that much done, but we worked smoothly together. And when we did disagree, we disagreed civilly, and we had a great time. At least I did - I will say, as I have been increasingly so: I don't know what she's thinking.

So ends the ruby portion of the course. Next week - SQL! Time to SELECT men FROM boys WHERE men can make at least fairly witty SQL puns. I may be giving myself too much on that one.
