The pre-‘Whoosh Effect’ week?
After a fantastic weight loss last week, Monday began with a 1 kilo ‘gain’ and the beginning of my womens cycle. Crabby, lethargic and the water retention on my scales went up to 50 when it is normally 40-45.
So my weight today has dropped back to what it was last Sunday. However my BMI has dropped 0.8% and my waist has decreased too from Sundays measurements. The maths doesn’t add up. Same weight as Sunday, less BMI and smaller waist than Sunday. Weird.
However, I read an enlightening article about the ‘Whoosh Effect’. That was great info.
The ‘whoosh effect’ in a nutshell is that we are losing fat [as my BMI loss proves], however water [as my increased water shows] is filling the empty fat cells temporarily as your body adjust slowly to the fat loss. So the scales show no weight loss at all, even though you are losing fat.
Then the cells lose the water and ‘whoosh’ you lose double the weight.
So, good information can give you hope, confidence and perseverance ;) Plus it must have happened to me before before when weight stalled for a week then picked up and dropped double the next week.
I look forward to the next 2 week then. Maybe I get to experience another ‘whoosh’.
