What is Faith's concept of home? Does she have one? If not, is there a place or person that comes/has come closest?

              Ooo, well there’s a tough question to answer. I don’t know that she actually has a concept of ‘home’ or, more accurately, she’s all too aware of the impermanence of any situation she’s in.

In the comics, I’d actually bypass her friendship with Angel to point at her friendship with Giles.

                 The platonic Fangel dynamic works so well because Angel needs Faith. The truth is, and this is coming from someone who loves Angel to pieces and even has an Angel muse, he’s actually somewhat emotionally weak. His vanity gets the better of him and, like Cordelia before her, Faith is often there to watch his back in a more emotional capacity than she’s willing to admit. That’s not to say that he is’t there for her, too, but he’s sort of an egotistical man-baby at times and I think Cordelia, Gunn, Fred and Wes bore the brunt of that on more than one occasion.

         Giles, on the other hand, really doesn’t need anything from Faith. He’s been there, done that with the bad juju, ‘adolesence jumping the rails’ thing and he’s handled Slayers before. Part of the reason why Faith and Wilkins worked so well as a duo is that he was able to provide her with the adult, the selfless love of a parent, that she so desperately lacked in her life. Even though Faith is an adult when she and Giles skitter off to Narnia, he’s there to put a comforting hand on her shoulder and let her know when she’s done well, without demanding a lot in return.

                       That being said, I don’t think there ever was a canon 'home’ for Faith. Having had a similarly unstable childhood, I see her hold up in a crappy motel room or blow into a town she’s never been to with only a gym bag, and it resonates. You get used to nothing being permanent or stable and you’re able to start putting the day after tomorrow out of your mind because you just need to make it through today, then make it through tomorrow. The rest of your life is blurry and in the future, and the future doesn’t matter when there’s barely enough today to cling onto.

    Non-canon, though, as in roleplay things - I’m going to say Alaric Saltzman ( @allroundlostcause ) in the 1940s 'Wartown’ verse is probably as close to home as she’s got. Sam Winchester ( @samattheend ) is her soulmate, fight me on that, but he try as he might he’s just not capable of stability and he’s not equipped to deal with someone with such pronounced mental illness and psychological damage. Ric doesn’t have a history of driving away from his problems like Sam does, he’s stayed put where he’s needed, even as a ghost. Plus he’s got loads of experience dealing with the tantrums of Boy!Faith, Damon Salvatore, so that helps.

In the end, though, I don’t see Faith getting over her issues anytime soon - even under ideal conditions. Makes it hard to move on or accept the stability of 'home’ as permanent.

Questions for Muns of Canon Muses

5 - What is an aspect of your muse’s canon material or canon existence that you never had the opportunity to explore but really want to?I've rarely been able to set a verse or thread inside the comic canon, mostly because so many folks either haven't read them or hate them (which I don't get, because Angel & Faith is one of the best comics, ever). There’s also Faith’s time in prison, in ‘murder rehab’, as she puts it. I don’t think that’s ever been given the attention it really deserves, but that’s more of a fic project.

What would Buffy classify as her greatest achievement, and what would she classify as her greatest regret?

I would say probably one of her greatest achievements or just favourite ones would be her winning of the ‘class protector’ aware at prom. It was more than just winning something but that she finally got recognition for all she does. That people did in fact notice that Buffy was special and saved them. Now obviously she has never asked for it, never expected it but having it there, having the people that she thought exiled her as a ‘freak’ say thanks in such a way touched her more than she could ever convey and it meant everything to her.Now, slaying for as long as she has Buffy has a lot of regrets, but I think one of her greatest was her inability to take Angelus out and therefore being the responsible, at least in her eyes, for Jenny’s death. Though obviously in the end she is somewhat, and selfishly, glad she didn’t kill him then since she did get Angel back but she definitely carries Jenny’s death with her everywhere she goes.

Did Spike live through an era/historical event that he particularly enjoyed? What about any technological developments?

the man really enjoyed woodstock, there’s no denying that.

also, not that he rather enjoyed it, but he was in germany during world war ii for a brief time.  he infiltrated a concentration camp, ate nazis, for crying out loud. and then proceeded to get tricked onto a submarine meant to get him killed, thinking he was going to a virgin blood party

spike has grown to enjoy video games, and is really enjoying where they’ve gotten to.  he went from donkey kong, crash bandicoot, and the modern games he enjoys are things like mariokart, COD, halo, etc.  he’s pretty savvy with keeping up with the current tech, at least what the casual crowd is using.  he’s not hacker level or anything. (leave that to willow)

What are Spike's feelings towards individual members of Buffy's circle? (Willow, Tara etc) Does he prefer some over others?

hoooo boy, here we go

we all know spike starts out hating everyone.  we all know that this changes.  

first off, i’m gonna talk about oz.  yes, i know, he wasn’t part of the gang at the point where spike gets vamp!neutered and stuff, but what else are headcanons for?  the two never become buddies, and probably only ever tolerate each other.  it’s potentially due to the natural enemies of werewolf & vampire, but also very much their personalities.

cordelia is another that doesn’t get the interactions when they’re not fighting.  he’d have a mixture of low tolerance but also really get a kick out of her sass and bluntness towards the rest of the gang.  though he wouldn’t put up with any tossed at himself.

as for xander, the two basically are on tolerable levels, for the most part.  hate is a bit too strong of a word for them, but they know each other are important to buffy, hence why they put up with each other.  they’d likely kill each other if they had the approval of the others, honestly. 

anya is like that little dog.  he doesn’t hate her.  hell, she’s pretty tolerable and on the side of liking her than anything.  sure, she can get on his nerves, but then again, that’s really not hard to do.

tara is someone that spike is a bit impartial to.  he’s got nothing to say against her, for the most part.  she’s cool, but she’s also not high up on his friends list.

willow he’s got a sort of fondness for.  hell, even when he’s trying to kill her after he got chipped, he comforts her; ‘i’d bite you in a heartbeat’.  he also has some damn respect for her, knowing she’s a super powerful witch and could easily have him dead without batting an eye.

andrew, the brief time that he was in the gang--sort of-- oh man.  andrew annoyed the shit out of him.  he literally only tolerated the guy and put up with him because they were trying to save the world

faith, the brief canon interactions with her shows they’re friends that punch the shit out of each other. and honestly in canon divergence, they’re a thing.  honestly tho they’re probably the most tight out of the group

giles, oh giles.  bickering, mocking, they literally barely put up with each other, but at the same time, they’ve got that whole englishman thing in common.  they’ve got some sort of understanding despite the whole vampire & watcher rivalry.  

joyce was spike’s favorite for a while.  they bonded over passions and even had conversations like he wasn’t a vampire.  she treated him like a normal person, and he’ll always appreciate that.

dawn, nibblet.  he was super protective of her and really did enjoy her company.  he very much was the one wanted dawn to be her own person, never holding her back and never keeping her out of the dark for her own safety.  he didn’t see her as just a kid, but just a smaller, younger person who had to grow up too fast in this dangerous world.  

and last but not least is buffy.  this man went from wanting to kill her to being head over heels with her, which is incredible.  the whole show, everything he does is driven by buffy, whether it’s to kill or to kiss her tbh.  honestly there’s so much i could write here i don’t know where to start.  he goes through so many phases with that girl it’s crazy. he gets his goddamn soul back for her for crying out loud.  

needless to say, buffy is his number one preference of the scoobies.  he has a fondness for all of the summers ladies, clearly.
