*POOF*
On the floor of the office lay two Telepaths, disoriented and confused. Tele sat up, shivering, collecting his own, personal thoughts, while his Greedier form sat up slowly against the couch. They didn’t speak.
Tele tried to hold back his tears. The last couple of weeks that the two had spent as one person were enlightening. Some of the last words the more innocent Telepath had said to his other half were something to the effect of, when we are one person, you will not exist. He was wrong... He reached out for Tel wordlessly, tears falling down his cheeks uninhibited.
The sight of Tele crying set Tel off, as well. He shook his head and scooted forward on his knees, grabbing him around the shoulders. His hat, which had mysteriously appeared, pin and all, fell off his head over Tele’s shoulder. “I’m sorry, Tele.” He whimpered. “I’m sorry... I couldn’t understand you... Your p-pain.”
Tele shook his head, burying his face into Tel’s shoulder. “Thank you... For supporting me about m-mother...”
“Don’t worry about her... I’ll make sure she stays gone. No more... Horrible family dinners...” Tel let him go and sat back, head still lowered guiltily. “I’m so sorry... I let her treat you that way.”
Tele shook his head and stood slowly, twisting his cloak in his fingers. “Thank you... I should go.”
“N-no, Tele, you should stay. You... You can stay here.”
“I can’t... And Tel...?”
“Yes?”
“You have to stop the machines... You just have to. At least you have to stop making those stupid... shoes.” He shook his head. “When you cut the trees... You risk everything. You know that.”
Tel stood and adjusted his clothing, then moved his glasses and wiped his eyes. “Just... A little longer, for the holiday season... Then we’ll stop making them.”
“Good... I need to get home...”
Tel nodded. When Tele left, he was alone in his office once more... Actually alone.
