for whump i think it would absolutely gut wrenching for bradley and reader to be together for years but hes too scared of marriage so she leaves and then she starts dating jake and theyre engaged within the year. just the heartbreak for him and the angst but reader and jake are just head over heels for each other. even worse if shes the reason jake finally settles down and it’s a big deal for them and he goes around saying shit like “well she’s the one/ couldn’t let her get away/etc.”. bradley being one of his groomsman?? i’m so sorry but this came to me and when you said share whump i had to share this

Oh fuck 💔 Jake knowing immediately he wants to spend the rest of his life with the reader and Bradley having that deep rooted fear of commmitment resulting in losing the reader forever and having to WATCH ON WHILE SHE MARRIED JAKE FUCKING SERESIN OF ALL PEOPLE.

Okay, so I'm a little bit obsessed with The Last Unicorn and the whump potential it contains. Specifically the transformation aspect: taking a mythical, powerful, beautiful creature and turning it into a human with all of humanity's weaknesses and plights. And that creature losing more and more of itself to become more human in mind as much as in body.

Sneak preview of tomorrow’s whump for ToE Bradley.

“She’s not your damn daughter Bradley!” You didn’t mean it, hell the words you spoke even shocked you as they escaped your mouth. You could immediately tell that what you had said cut Bradley deep as his features softened in disappointment and frustration. “I’m her mother, and you should have called me when she was getting worse.”

“Yeah—“ Bradley stiffened up as he looked over at Jake, he knew just how hurt you were by this mess but he never thought you’d throw Bradley’s ability to care for your little girl back in his face. “No yeah you’re totally right, I’m just gonna go, I’ll uh—I’ll just go back to my house and clean up the mess your daughter fucking makes all day because you’re too scared to send her back to daycare then.”

What about day 20 for holy shit Jake… either dehumanizing or Stockholm syndrome would be fitting for them unfortunately

Stockholm syndrome for sure. I might have to do a one shot for them. Like a specific scenario.

I saw you were still looking for some whumptober ideas and I had a few I'm not going to use for mine if you are interested (no pressure; and I don't really have a preference of which characters are used for each prompt so if any of these inspire you, feel free to write for whoever you want):

Day 17: Heat Stroke

On an off day from Top Gun training, one or more Dagger(s) decide to go for a drive out in the desert. Unfortunately, their car breaks down in the middle of nowhere just as they are about to head back and they are forced to try to make it back to civilization on foot in the heat of the day.

Day 18: Fever

After the events of TGM, between the stress of the mission and his time in the snow, Rooster comes down with a severe fever (a great place to add some Mav angst as he fears losing Bradley just as he got him back).

Day 22: Punishment

While at the Academy/Navy boot camp, a punishment for a failed training exercise goes wrong with dire consequences (could also be hazing-related)

Day 29: Forced to Choose

When you, Hangman, and Rooster (or any two of the Daggers) are all kidnapped after a night out, your kidnappers agree to allow two of you to go free....but you have to choose who doesn't leave there alive (reader could be romantically connected to both men or related to one/romantically connected to the other)

Day 30: Mind Games

A few of the Daggers think it would be funny to mess with you around Halloween and make you think one of them has snapped and started taking out the others. Unfortunately, you don't realize it is a joke and you fight back.
