the conclusion is extremely rushed in the manga :( it doesn't really have time to land :(

i suppose in this adaption lex dies a hero more definitely compared to the anime

you can't just cut to this when lex died in a rocket 2 pages ago. nobody is feeling it. this is more of a genre-obligate ending that's shoehorned in to make the story more upbeat and generic. but it can't undo how harrowing the ending is

anyway i'm trying to think whether this plot makes any sense without the kaido android. that was a pretty crucial plot element, was it not? but i guess all lex really needed was to access the rocket, which i suppose could still be achieved by shooting kaido at the last minute

sorry to say this but he seems like. turned on by himself

i wonder how much of the changes made were the author's choice vs how many were mandated by corocoro. i guess the original game and anime formats gave the writers a lot more freedom to do whatever they wanted, compared to having to meet the style requirements of a specific magazine

what really bothers me about danball senki is that season 1 was (mostly) hard sci-fi and then season 2 just randomly lets in more and more soft sci-fi elements. like i'm not going to say season 1 was really scientific logical hard sci-fi because it had its moments of random unexplained magic stuff like brainwashing. but mostly they stuck to things that would technically be possible, and provided a semi-believable explanation for it. and then suddenly in season 2 there's WAY more brainwashing, precognition powers, eggs that turn into magic green containment fields... it would be fine if it was like that from the beginning, but i hate to see them throwing away the logic they used to have
