my very personal only me thing about (writing) rpf that bugs me is how often i have to ("have to" i.e., force myself to) think about Jobs and Business.
for actors it's like: what magazine spreads and profiles are coming out. what new interviews have been released and where do they fit in the chronology (is this recent or delayed release). what roles have they been cast in and are they a step up or step down from prior projects. what's the trajectory of their career. shooting or waning star narrative.
for hockey it's shit like: what are the terms of their contract. what's the market look like this year and historically. what's the status of the team's prospects and rookies/returning young players. how does the nhl draft fit into this. how are people aging/managing chronic injuries and illness. should x or y be traded. how does management and coaching affect the dynamics. who needs to get fired. shooting or waning star narrative,
and then like. getting to the actual story.
and it's fun researching and outlining and occasionally making an unhinged spreadsheet, don't get me wrong, but..... ugh. jobs. and the internalized "what if the job isn't good enough?" idk i want to write something but the setting/skeleton means thinking about jobs and i don't want to!!!!!!!
