The question "What is your name?" in Arabic is "ما اسمك؟ /ma ismok? /". It consists of the following words:
In Arabic language, we do not need to write or say the verb to be (am, is, and are).
When someone asks you about your name in English, you can answer using your name only, you can answer using "I am" or "my name is"
In addition, we will learn how to answer the question using the three ways; however, we have to learn the following vocabularies at first:
The word "Salah" is my name and it is equal "صلاح" in Arabic.
The pronoun "I" is equal "انا" /Ana/
The word "name" is equal "اسم" /ism/
The word "your name" is equal "اسمك" /ismok/
The word "my name" is equal "اسمي" /ismee/
Let us learn how to answer the question "ما اسمك؟", which mean what is your name.
The first answer will be the name only, so I can say Salah.
In the second answer, we will use "I am plus the name" so I will say "انا صلاح" /Ana Salah/.
In the third answer we will use the word "my name is plus the name ", which is equal "اسمي صلاح" /ismee Salah/.
Read the following Arabic script:
/Ma ismok? / = ما اسمك؟
Salah = صلاح
/Ana Salah/ = انا صلاح
/Ismee Salah/ = اسمي صلاح
The last thing you should know about this question, that In Arabic we can use the question "ما اسمكَ؟" /Ma ismuka? /, if you ask a male and the question "ما اسمكِ؟" /Ma ismoki? /, if you ask a female. The answer will be the same anyway.

/Ana Salah/ = انا صلاح
2. A question that works with females only.
/Ma ismuki? / = ما اسمكِ؟
/Ana Sarah/ = انا سارة
2. A question that works with both males and females.
/Ma ismok? / = ما اسمك؟
/Ana Salah/ = انا صلاح
/Ana Sarah/ = انا سارة
