The Wardrobe, 2018 Curated by: Cortney Lane Stell Hosted by: Redline Denver 10x Anniversary Resident Artist Show Photos by: Wes Magyar The Wardrobe is an immersive installation piece that is designed to create a visceral response in the viewer. The intent of the installation is to create an environment that is designed to give the viewer a perspective of how it is to exist and live in a world that forces communities to “come out” in heteronormative binary society. The Wardrobe is an intimate autobiography moment from my childhood. The moment I realized I am queer while listening to Ray of Light by Modanna while looking into a mirror. The eggs turned eggshells, are metaphoric of walking on eggshells. The neon eye is a reference to the eye of God. The “clothing” is stereotype typographic references of the queer community and the words Pass. The Projection is a clip from Bob Mizer Foundation Film Archive Monte Hanson & Tony Gallo, a vintage athletic video.
