This book! I don't normally get excited about sentences. I don't collect passages to remember later. I read to collect stories. But this book has some of the best sentences I've ever read. My favorite stories always have a lot of gore in them. I really appreciate good gore. Eyeballs exploding, heads being ripped off, things ripped in half, any limbs being cleanly ripped off, any amount of torture and suffering, forced drug addiction, getting jumped, or really anything that brings about very intense emotional reactions from the character. I feel this really brings a character to life for me I truly feel for them and feel the pain. The other thing that brings me back to a good story is intense romantic interaction. I’m not talking sex (though I have read very intense passionate sex scenes), I’m talking intense passionate moments of sacrifice, the first moments they realize they’re in love, a surprise kiss, interesting pairs (teacher/student, Rivals, mortal enemies, humanxalien, and etc.) and my favorite is when these two very different moments are intertwined in a beautiful majestic plot that through all the darkness a character can experience during or throughout they find something worth risking everything for. All the pain, all the hurt, all the suffering just becomes noise in the background because what they are fighting for out weighs it all. That is when I find my self truly absorbed into what I’m reading!
