As per the rules I can't look anything up, so I may be wrong - but keep in mind Mantling is a thing that's up to interpretation like most of deeplore.

Mantling, is to "walk like them until they walk like you", the act of emulating something so perfectly that you are that thing moreso than that thing. E.g. A mer mantles his friend. Who is to say he wasn't always his friend?
