Morrowind - A Pair of Silt Striders in the Grazelands
Inktober Day 13 - Horizon
Today's image has been brought to you thanks to my friend @dei2dei , and her amazing inspiration-suggestion of tackling the silt striders in this way, based on a piece of art she owns.
Forgot to make a scan while they were just lineart, unfortunately. Instead, have the sketch and the original art on which it's based. No idea of the original artist, I fear - it was bought in Egypt years ago.
Silt Striders
"Gorgeous creatures with beautiful voices that reverberate long into the night. If I could take one as a travel companion, I would." - Seeks-For-Knowledge
Silt Striders are giant arthropods somewhat resembling fleas. They reside on the island of Vvardenfell. They can be encountered in the wild by themselves, but more commonly they are seen in use as means of transport from city to city and by the Ashlanders, though the ones that travel between cities seem to be much larger in size. The ones favoured by the Ashlander tribes are named Silt Hoppers.
Silt Strider caravaners The Silt Strider caravaners saw that the tough carapace of Silt Striders was ill-suited for passengers, and so have taken to hollowing out a large compartment on their back, where the passengers will be seated, and where the caravaner gives the Silt Strider orders by manipulating its exposed organs and tissues.
Current state They are resilient souls, but many of them died during the Red Year, which destroyed their native habitats. Not all of them are gone, but they aren't as numerous as they used to be.
Traveler's advice: If you are in Morrowind and come upon a Silt Strider caravaner, make sure not to anger them, or you might notice your fare has risen significantly in price.
More Elder Scroll games need to have Silt Striders(and ALL of Morrowind’s Weird Bug Creatures, honestly) and also they need a button to HUG the Silt Striders(and ALL of Morrowind’s Weird Bug Creatures, honestly) u_u u_u u_u
