A couple of months ago I was at my dad’s house and he approached me while I was in the backyard. He pulled this knife out of an old, weather-beaten, leather sack and began to explain to me how he carried this knife through his whole tour back in the 1960’s while in the Portuguese Army. He knows my appreciation for a good blade and explained that it was time for me to have it. I cannot convey to you how honored I was by this memorable moment between father and son. Once we got past the tear-filled experience, he mentioned that it had been dull for years and would just be something for me to display on the wall of my HQ. That really stuck with me… I looked at the knife and it certainly was in rough shape, but I had a tool that I knew could give this knife the Wicked Edge that it deserves. I recently received a few new sharpening stones from Wicked Edge to compliment the current selection of stones that I had. These were finer, finishing stones, that literally put a glossy shine on the knife’s edge. Here was the most ideal scenario for me to break in the new stones. I started with a 400 grit stone and worked my way up to the 1000 grit. At this point, the knife had an excellent, sharp edge. Since this was dad’s knife, I knew that I had to go the extra mile! After all, I had special plans for this knife. I used the new 1500, 2200, 3000 diamond grit stones and finished up with the blank glass patens to give it a gloss finish. Man… If you could only feel the current edge on this blade, to say that it is “Wicked” is an understatement. Now that I have an incredible edge on this knife, it is once again serviceable! Now to give it back to its rightful owner. This Father’s Day my gift to my dad will be his trusty battle buddy, the exact one that has saved his life on more than one occasion.
One day this knife will be mine and I will cherish it, but not this Father’s Day. I couldn’t think of anything more special that I could do, to show you how much you truly mean to me. I hope that you have countless more years with this tool that has served you well. Just don’t forget… It’s really sharp now. ;-) Happy Father’s Day! #ad #WickedEdgeAmbassador #wickededgesharpener (at Natural Training Center) https://www.instagram.com/p/CBVbF_epxZy/?igshid=pealnm4wag3d
