‘ i know you think you’re all alone out there, but you’re not. ’
The words settled in his stomach like a rock to the bottom of a lake, his chest tightening as he lifted his head to observe the widow with his good eye. He liked to think he was better at covering up his emotions, but he was wise enough to know he was an open book with his heart on his sleeve.
It didn’t make him feel weak, no, maybe just a little-- vulnerable.
Nevertheless, while the statement did warm him he still felt the chill of the years beyond now. Thor might not be an immortal, invulnerable being but he was still aware that he would out live his friends by several millennia. Swallowing the lump in his throat, he mustered up the courage to speak, though his words felt a bit empty.
“You are correct, I am not.”
He might not be alone but if he was honest with himself and maybe with her--
“But I am lonely.” It sounded ridiculous coming out of a mighty warriors mouth, however true it might be.
