Wikileaks-Gründer Julian Assange leidet nach Angaben der ecuadorianischen Botschafterin in London an einer chronischen Lungenkrankheit. "Diese könnte sich jeden Augenblick verschlimmern", sagte die Diplomatin Ana Alban nach Medienberichten vom Donnerstag in Quito. Die gesundheitlichen Leiden des 41-Jährigen hingen damit zusammen, dass er seit Monaten in der Botschaft Ecuadors in London ausharre und dort wenig frische Luft und Sonnenlicht bekomme. Der Raum, in dem er sich aufhalte, sei nur 50 Quadratmeter groß, sagte Alban der staatlichen Zeitung "El Ciudadano". Assange werde regelmäßig von Ärzten untersucht, die Kosten trage Ecuador.
