A wikipoem I compiled for a creative writing workshop class. I saw @headspace-hotel ‘s wikipoems and wanted to try my hand!

Meaning of life

i read a dragon poem from snippets of wikipedia and i had to make one of my own. one of my spuitpoeps gave me the topic and well here we are

titan

five billion years from now,

she will splash down in a lake

as the sun becomes a red giant.

the dunes break up around mountains,

where the wind will shift direction.

a hot-air balloon floating for six months,

storm winds that happen only every fifteen years,

bodies that made close approaches.

five billion years from now,

she will float on the surface of the lake  

with one of the telescopes they built.

filled with hills and cut by valleys

and regions of bright and dark terrain.

she is 400 times stronger

than the tidal forces of the moon on earth.

she is a satellite. never visible to the naked eye,

but she can be observed through

small telescopes or strong binoculars

she will take a rest on a dark plain

covered in layers of rocks and pebbles,

washed down the hills with the methane rain.

feel "better"

the calming effects

of crying: slowed breathing

between two and four minutes,

the discovery of fire,

a rising note,

a lump in the throat.

awakened at night

one comforts oneself.

we perform good deeds,

pass the days in a state

of stress or self-pity

and muscular tremor.

in response to the smoke,

a person can hold

their breath and allow

the moment to pass,

the tears to run their course.
