Wil Cope “What Can’t Be Found”
I stumbled upon Wil Cope (way) late this past May. If memory serves me right, he opened with a trippy rendition of Arlo Guthrie’s “Coming Into Los Angeles,” and every song that followed fell in line with the same, infectious vibe.
After finding his Bandcamp page the next day, I listened to every song he had uploaded. I love his slow, shoegaze kind of folk. Cope forgoes any flash for very moody but authentic songs. Truth be told, he’s often been my soundtrack to days spent working. The song above is found on his 2014 record, Mañana.
He plays regularly around Austin, and I highly recommend his show for a low-key night or a slow Sunday happy hour. Until then, take a dip into Cope’s pool of songs. I think you’ll find something really cool there. I know I did.
