Why you shouldn’t have live animals (except pets) in you wedding.

I realize that the releasing of doves has been a wedding staple in Hollywood and even television. Recently even freeze-dried butterflies have started to make an appearance.

Aside from being ridiculously over the top -and expensive!- using live animals as a key part of your wedding is a bad idea in general. Imagine you and your brand new spouse opening up a box expecting to release two monarch butterflies as a symbol of your love but one, or God forbid two, of them don’t quite fly away? It could be stubborn, injured, or even dead. How much of a mood kill would that be? Or what if you release your doves and they do fly away but one attacks your grandma because she’s wearing a shiny necklace and the other one poops on the flower girl’s nose?

The issue is, untrained animals are unpredictable. That’s why your puppy can be your ring bearer, he responds to your command. Wild animals act on instinct and most of the time their instinct is not going to be what you want it to be.
