Listen: Hannah Schneider - "Wild Open"
What began this year as an unexpected introduction to the music of Danish songstress Helen Schneider has ended with an album -- Red Lines -- that's high on our list of the year's best releases. New single "Wild Open," the track that closes the album, epitomizes Schneider's sophisticated (sm)art/pop approach: percolating electronica bumping up against the sweep of a grand, elaborately constructed melody. "A good melody does the right thing at the right time," says Schneider. "You have to be able to cover a whole landscape in three or four minutes.
