You know I madly respect jackles for staying silent on basically everything for the past few months. Imagine if a marvel actor had to do a gay love confession scene, and shortly afterwards the internet was full of memes describing him as homophobic - there would be IMMEDIATE damage control/hurt feelings/celebs and/or co-stars plastering insta posts all over the place how pro-lgtbq their “friend” was, how the fans should wait to see the rest of the show before judging and how hurtful this could be etc., successfully blowing the thing entirely out of proportion. Jensen tho? Said nothing did nothing and regained his honour in mere WEEKS. People felt bad for laughing, defended him and continue to support him. Other actors could never
yeah, i mean people are always going to be mad about something. jensen doesn't technically need protecting, especially from people who don't know him personally. unfortunately the internet can be a really gross place lol. he IS right to stay quiet though because there's only so much he can say (given his nda and the recognition that he's probably not the best spokesperson for queer dean/destiel conversations). but also like. good for him for protecting his own mental health and not engaging in that outlandish shit storm of drama. he said a lot of dean's reaction was cut, and he explained why dean didn't respond in that moment, rather than why dean wouldn't have responded. but honestly he still came through. with his microexpressions and his careful articulation of dean's overall state of mind. he has made it pretty clear that he didn't have much control over any of it, and it seems like tptb are hiding behind their actors as they all take the heat.
