Wilda Jangalee Griffiths was born on August 17th 1952, to Bryn and Meera Griffiths. Her father is a Welsh farmer, and her mother is a educated botanist from India working at a local university. She had a very carefree childhood in Wales, able to run and play with the family’s animals and climb around the forest near her home whenever she wasn’t in school or helping her parents on their farm. Her mother and father instilled a love of animals and plants in her, and she prefers the company of animals over humans, branding her as a loner from a young age.
She was frequently ahead of her other classmates in muggle school because her mother began teaching her at a young age, and she has that inflated sense of self that comes with having more educated parents than her peers. She was a half-Indian mostly-vegetarian in rural Wales, so she learned to grow a thick skin to protect herself from teasing. She frequented the woods and old castle ruins nearby, climbing the walls and barricading herself there when the teasing got too much.
Wilda got a visit from a witch right before her 11th birthday. Her mother was shocked, and her father pretended to be (his older sister is a witch). She went to Hogwarts and got sorted into Slytherin, which is rare for a muggleborn. She shared plenty of traits with her housemates, though, including a natural sneakiness and willingness to bend the rules. She was frequently getting in trouble for breaking into the broomshed and flying around the pitch in the middle of the night, but joined the Slytherin Quidditch team in her fourth year and got her own broom for Christmas that year.
After she graduated, Wilda spent almost eight months trying to get picked up by a professional Quidditch team. She was rejected by several British teams after a trial period, because ‘she doesn’t have a good sense of teamwork’ - which is true, although she’s not an always-has-the-quaffle player, she rarely passes the ball to the other Chasers when she gets it.
She went back to Wales and joined the Holyhead Harpies in 1971, and stayed with them until she got picked up by Puddlemere United in 1977. The all-female dynamic of the Harpies was good for her, and she became more team-oriented as she grew to care about her teammates. This change in her playing made her a better Chaser, and contributed to Puddlemere United requesting her for their team.
She currently spends a lot of her time training, but when she’s not on the pitch she has a flat in London that she stays at. She knows about the war, but she mostly just wants to stay out of it. Being a muggleborn surrounded by a lot of pure- and half-bloods at school and on the pitch, she knows when to keep her mouth shut.
