Wildermark Expedition Status Report: Ra'Tak'Klu, Lizardman tomb raider, is searching for the Great Necropolis. Tonight his sleep was interrupted by a Giant Mountain Crab, and now, after unsuccessfully trying to hide in a tree, he's going to have to think fast if he doesn't want to become a midnight snack. Blink, a Fulgen (red panda) Wizard, is searching for a pass across the mountains for his employers, the Aes Dana Empire. He's currently exploring a cave and, after a brief interlude with some ratfolk, he's now following a phantom light. Gavina (human cleric) and Vayne (bear druid) are preparing to oust some pig-faced orcs from a forest Vayne has chosen to defend. Their current course of action involves capturing an orc alive for questioning. Mortio (human fighter) is trying to meet up with Gavina and Vayne, but has run into a couple of the pig-faced orcs in question. Alidris (human cartographer) and S'Ghan'Li (lizardman bard) have reached the hill-country they're intending to map out, and are eyeing some nearby ruins. Tales of the Wildermark is looking for more players!

We’re an exploration-based play-by-post roleplaying campaign, using John Harper’s World of Dungeons game and the Tavern Keeper play-by-post site. The setting is a fantasy world where adventurers, eschewing a corrupt “civilization”, set out into the unexplored reaches of the Wildermark.

This campaign features:

A short and simple (three page) ruleset

An easy-going, lackadaisical pace

Red Pandas and plant folk as playable species

Dinosaurs! 

Mantis Shrimp people

Pig-faced orcs

Lots of hidden secrets and history

Mortio Carver is looking for Adventuring Companions

Mortio sat it in the taproom, cleaning his fingernails with an arrow head, looking around for likely people to join him on an outing outside of Vallation. He was running low on funds and he had enough to get food for another week or so or enough to get a torchbearer to accompany him for a few days. He was looking to line his pockets a bit. But he had barely made it to the town and knew how dangerous the surrounding environs were.

But he had been waiting for a while. And he was getting a little thirsty. He held up a hand and flagged down a serving woman. "Can I get a pitcher? Something cheap?" he asked, flashing a little of his remaining coin. He leaned back in his chair, his short, dirty cloak trailing the floor, and kicked his feet up onto the table, then laced his fingers behind his head, and waited some more.

Tales from the Wildermark is a play-by-post RPG campaign in the “West Marches” style (meaning, an exploration-based hex-crawl with a large revolving cast of PCs). We’re looking to add some players!

The game is being played primarily on Tavern Keeper, a site designed to facilitate play-by-post games. You can see our campaign page here.

For expeditions with one Player Character, we can also use Tumblr Messenger!

“Hell again friends, do not worry, the water spirit turned out to be a friendly Naiad. I have currently set her up with a good friend of mine, a spirit of Ice and Wind, so we’ll see how that goes. In less lighthearted news, it appears that a large, yet unknown number of orcs have made cast to the east of the forest. I will attempt to scout them out, but I fear I will not be able to take them in direct combat. To any who read this, your assistance would be appreciated, and if you do not hear word from me, as usual please come to retrieve my corpse”

Poll: Play by Post sites

Hey all. I’m finding Rolz chats to be a bit too fast-paced for my schedule, so I think I’m going to be cutting back on them a bit. Instead, I’m going to be setting up Wildermark on a play-by-post site. There are three sites I’m considering at the moment:

If you have any input on any of these, or questions, or opinions, please let me know! I’ll probably set everything up tomorrow. (Also note that I’m not getting rid of Rolz entirely, but it’ll be less often -- once a week, say.)  Anyway, which of these sites would you prefer? Or do you know of a better one?
