Nov2016 Thanksgiving MY BOYS Bill is an iconic figure of the downtown Riverside performance poetry scene and a lover of literature. He a dear friend of mine. This same year #BillCasey (#WilliamCasey) and I would perform together at my Drownin' Mermaids Open Mic at Pixels in Downtown Riverside, Ca. Bill was always a strong supporter of my read keeping the energy going by performing poetry in between acts. He even wrote a poem in which he asked me to sing backup. Bless his ❤ (heart) he never teased me about lacking that particular "sister" gene. In Feb 2019... I was Chair of the Fezziwig's Ball for the Riverside Dickens Festival. Bill would do me the tremendous honor of giving a lecture as the character, H G Wells, prior to the ball. He received a personal thanks from the University of California, Riverside, Dr. Miranda Butler, his innovative interpretation of H G Wells. Dr. Butler holds a PhD in Victorian Literature. See the link: https://womenalsoknowhistory.com/individual-scholar-page/?pdb=3309 Bill had played H G Wells for past Riverside Dickens Festival events. My mother, who holds an Ed,D from Western Washington University in Bellingham (in addition to 2 masters degrees in 2 other fields) had attended one of the open mics I hosted at Pixels Bar where she watched Bill and I perform together--the one where I was his backup singer. Also trained in classical music, my mother politely refrained from telling me that I should stick to playing the cello. She still talks to this day about what a pleasure it was to converse at length with Bill about a plethora of subjects that night.
