I saw @utsoye post this a while back and thought it would be fun. Check out their original post.
Double Date
All too soon, the couple reached Willow’s house. Shen glanced at his watch. “A few minutes before ten thirty. Has it really been that long? I feel like I just picked you up.”
Willow knew what he meant. It didn’t feel like four and a half hours went by. “At least Dana can’t get mad at you.”
He laughed. “No, I did keep my promise.” He held her gaze. “Listen Marissa, I had a really great time with you, and I’m hoping the feeling isn’t one sided.”
“It’s not,” she replied, “I had a good time too.”
She sensed the confidence and carefree he had a moment ago disappear, replace by nervousness. It was a bit endearing. “I don’t… date around, per say. If I’m in it, I’m in it for the long haul, you know? I know this has only been our first date, but it just, I don’t know, feels... right. If this isn’t too forward, I’d like to keep seeing you, exclusively, if that’s alright.”
This was it. She truly did enjoy his company and if she were honest with herself, she wanted to keep seeing him too. If he were serious about the long haul, he’d eventually learn about Theo and her situation. How would he react then? Shouldn’t she reject him before things got too serious? She knew she should, but that voice in the back of her mind was telling her she’d be making a huge mistake. Willow took a deep breath. “I would also like to keep seeing you.”
His face lit up and with a quick bow, he brought her hand to his lips. “Well then my lady, I bid you goodnight as I wait longingly for our next meeting.”
Willow giggled and did a small curtsey. “I as well, my sweet prince.”

After dinner and a little more dancing, they decided to head back. Not wanting the night to end just yet, Shen asked if he could drive part way, and walk her home. Parking his car at a late night coffee shop, he ordered a coffee and proceeded to walk her the rest of the way home. Shen’s hand was warm in hers. It felt secure, safe. The night was mild. The type of weather where you could stay out all night and not get cold. One of the things she loved about living here was the amount of stars she could see in the sky.
Shen took a deep breath in. “I love this. Fresh air, night sky, it’s beautiful.”
Willow glanced at him. “So you’re an outdoorsy kind of guy?”
“Oh yeah,” Shen replied, excitedly, “camping, hiking, fishing, I love doing them. Dad would take us camping every summer. A family tradition until we all started moving away.”
“I’ve never done any of those.”
He looked shock. “Never?” He clutched his chest dramatically before relinking their hands. “You’re missing out. Sleeping under the stars is amazing.”
“Well, my high school biology class went camping once, but it was more like we did nature themed activities and slept in dormitories.”
Shen shook his head. “You’ve got to do the real thing. Fishing is a staple, especially for me with my dad being a fisherman.”
“Have you gone with your dad to help catch fish?”
“Yeah, dad would take Kai and me out on his boat when we were kids. We’d help reel nets and sort through fish to sell and fish to keep. Fishing is one of our town’s greatest exports, so you learnt how to fish.”
“It sounds like fun. I never lived by the sea, so the opportunity never came up.”
Shen smiled. “One day I’ll teach you, that is, if you want to.”
“I’d like that.”
