Did Willow tell Robert the plan at The Beginning of the Episode?

Did Willow tell Robert that night about the plan to overthrow him? I know people are going to think that there’s no way because of the fight they had about the blackout, but just follow the progression of the story.

She clearly told Robert she had to talk to him in the beginning. And then they cut to the family plotting, talking about Willow knowing the plan.

And then Robert changes his security detail. And that is strange. And meant to clue the viewer that Robert has to know something. Or throw us off too.

And then THE SHOWDOWN. What I love most about the scene is that finally you see Willow seeing Robert’s darkside. She knows the truth. And how she got to it, was by using the pieces, unlike the others who actually had to go searching for it and she just KNEW. Anyways, I wonder if this was just one big act in case the others overheard or was bugged. OR it could be evidence later down the road that he did do the blackout in case Willow couldn’t expose him at the wedding and instead left a recording of this conversation? Or was it to show Robert’s depth of feeling, if she didn’t tell him the truth beforehand, that he REALLY couldn’t do this without her? And needed her. And again, is this to highlight Willow’s fear about Robert?

They “make up” but you know Willow still is fearful. The next scene she runs to the others to tell them she can’t marry him. But again, could she just be laying it on to the family?

Then she tells them that she’s going to expose Robert at her wedding. And then you have this ...of course I laugh because seriously, these people? And second, could they be more posed? And she confirms she WILL say it.

Then you see this cool sliding scene of contemplation. The chess game which is so prevalent in the episode, clearly Robert is having a crisis of conscience, as is Willow but again, is this just for effect for the viewer? To think they are all in deep thought about what’s going to go down?

Or this the scene where you finally see Robert realizing the depth of his darkness and the wanting to embrace Willow’s light? I just love this scene no matter what because we see Robert as a broken, tortured and misguided soul that only Willow gives him the ability to see the good and beautiful in him.

Is this where he decides he CAN have both? Love and King?

And then this beautiful shot scene. Willow in the church, thinking. And goodness gracious does the whole thing breathe. I love scenes that just speak without a whole lot of grandeur and this is one. It just lets her be the focus. I think we as viewers are supposed to see her still thinking, still wondering what she will do. This whole episode is really about what Willow will do, and what she is willing to sacrifice for herself. Remember she tells Robert, it’s about them, and then it’s about HER. 

And then we have the part where Robert says he needs to talk. Clearly we don’t know the conversation and that’s the point because that’s where it all comes together for them. But why does he need to say those things? If he knew about the plan, he wouldn’t do this? But even if did know the plan, clearly he has done some soul searching and maybe this could be his last chance to explain his vision for their reign, his hopes for her, for them. It could be a scene to get her to say YES but it could also just be a scene where he reaffirms every reason he loves her and the ways they are going to win England. Either way, I can’t even with this. It’s wonderful. This is the biggest WHAT DID YOU SAY of the whole episode for many reasons.

The whole wedding scene you think the worst, but that’s because Willow is looking like she’s going to speak the “truth” about Robert but again, it could all just be an act. But ugh everything about these scenes are wonderful. The hopeful look on Robert, the uncertainty in Willow’s. 

And YAY, she did say YES. (Like there was doubt?!)

And then they married!

So thoughts?

Do you think Robert knew the plan from that night she told him?

Did Robert and her hatch a plan to make sure no one caught on?

The depth of Robert’s love can not be overstated in this episode. King or not, she was the person he needed and wanted. While the whole light/dark can be overstated and a bit too easy to state, in this case, it makes sense.

Did Willow sacrifice some of herself to become Queen? I’m sure. But she also knows the good she can do and she believes in Robert. 

What is the next part of this story? Does it really matter? I’m so happy that they got their ending they deserved and screwed over the others. 

This whole season was focused on Robert’s journey, and so much of it was Willow. They brought layers and complexities that you didn’t see with others. 

Robert found himself made different by love.

It is real. You and me.
