Secretists are people who can, with a physical touch as simple as a handshake or a bump, can hear the other's secrets!! Of course, the longer the touch, the more the secrets! If it's a short-timed touch, they'll hear like... one, two secrets, the ones that are REALLY in the person's mind right now. They don't usually interact much with other ''TYPES'' of people, because they're not trusted. I mean, a person that can hear your secrets, but YOU can't hear theirs? SOOO UPSETTING OOOH BOY!!
So all the Secretists live together in a city! You'd think they're a pretty honest people, but not really. They're actually kind of hypocrites. The kind of people who will tell you that they like your outfit today, even though they don't, knowing full well that you could hear them THINK they dislike it.
They're kind of complicated. They're also very perfectionist and a single flaw can cause you to end up in the ''dead district'', that's where the Secretists that are no longer seen as ''alive'' because their flaws were too... intense, I guess???
For example, Willow's father tried to kill his whole family in a fit of rage and jealousy because of his wife (sooo Willow's mother) and her brother could hear secrets like everyone else but wasn't able to keep them for himself (he couldn't resist telling them, not that he WANTED to say them, it's just something he didn't have control over), and they saw this as veeeery big flaws and they were no longer respected. Willow and her bro had to move to the ''dead district''. u 0 u They're forced to get their faces tattooed like skulls sort of, so they can never go back to live in the ''respectable'' district.
People of other ''types'' say to be very careful around Secretists because they will find out everything about you and possibly blackmail you this way. Very rude assumption really, as Willow got to know everyone's secrets during her journey and never spoke a word about it, until it was learned by everyone else. uvu
