Willow gave a mock curtsy at the compliment, curious about the valued trinket she stole. “What’s so important about some little bear anyway? For all the tight security they put it under, you’d think it held the answers of the universe.” She was a bit dramatic, but it was under guard with round the clock security patrols, two code locked doors, and sensory lasers.

“Is it one of those “If I tell you I have to kill you“, type of things?”

Eriu didn’t reply immediately, mesmerized by the beauty of the stone. For all the trouble they went through to get it, Eriu was beginning to see why it was so. It should be on display somewhere where everyone could see it and admire, every speck of light that reflected off ot it, every shade of green, and yet at the same time, if she needed not to part with it, Eriu would make sure no one else could look at it. It would be safe, secure, reserved only for her hungry eyes. Yes, now she could clearly see why a trinket would be kept locked away like it has been.

Or perhaps she just had a soft spot for beautiful and valuable things and was extremely selfish. “I have once met a man who kept his mother’s slipper in a safe”, Eriu spoke finally, pulling the figurine out of the light and tossing it onto the sofa.  “Sentimental value. Labradorite is quite cheap.”

“You outdid yourself, Tani”, Eriu smiled with an undeniable admiration, turning a fist-sized bear figurine under the dim light of the lamp. Specks of blue and green danced beneath the surface as if emanating from within, looking as if someone had trapped northern lights in stone.

“I already regret having to part with it. Old Giovanni will be pleased.”
