Dating a professional sushi chef has made me feel for Lady Alyss Mainwaring so hard. We’ve both got boyfriends who are absolutely obsessed with taking care of their knives.

I can just imagine her waking up in the wee hours of the morning to the swishy-swish sound of a knife on a whet stone. Her going to the market with Will and watching him pay a handsome amount of money for a whet stone with diamond grit, all while wondering if he’s even saving up for her engagement ring. Watching him spend hours sharpening his saxe knife, which is already very sharp. Seeing a patch on his arm that has no hair, and when she asks about it, Will says he tests the sharpness by seeing how easily the knife can shave the fine arm hairs.
