Relationship headcanon >> Hakuei

This headcanon applies when ever Kouen is talking about Hakuei in general to someone else. It does not apply to specific muses like for example windprincessofkou. But it should be obvious form the interaction context if Kouen is mentioning this one Hakuei or  talks about the character in general. This headcanon is also topic to change if more about the character is revealed in the future.  _______________________

The paths of the redhead and Hakutoku's daughter crossed in his early teenage years when the brother of the first emperor was asked to move into a small residence located within the inner walls of the palace. Koutoku never liked his brother, but since this was a one sided matter and the wishes of the emperor were to be followed, the bearded man felt obliged to move with his family.  Due to the fact that Kouen was just a cousin and not on the same royal level with the blue-haired princess his encounters with the lady were always of a highly respectful nature. But unlike with her oldest brother Hakuyuu and the ever so annoying Hakuren, he meant his words when ever he met and greeted her formally. 

It was a mere coincidence that the both of them came to know that both of them liked to read a lot. The younger woman had always expected Kouen to be of a more person who was into martial arts thanks to what she had been hearing. But most of it were training lessons the redhead had to go through in order to fulfill Koutoku's expectations. It did not take long until the two of them met every now and then to share thoughts about things while having some well flavored Jasmine tea. To him Hakuei always seemed to be a very well educated and elegant person, whom he came to fall in love with around the age of seventeen. However, he never managed to voice his feelings since he deemed her to be worth more than just the boy next door who wouldn't be able to meet her royal standards and once her brothers fell victim to the great fire in the palace the idea of telling her completely washed out of the prince's mind. It would have felt like taking advantage of this unholy situation were the younger woman was searching for someone comforting her as she cried out her eyes. Kouen could not tell why, but it seemed that the blue-haired princess did not want to talk about all what had happened with her mother. The princess acted so strong and graceful in front of her baby brother that it left Kouoku's first born speechless. She was indeed an impressive women. However, in moments alone she was back to her heart-broken self and Kouen offered her a shoulder to lean on. 

The first months after the most of the men of the blue-haired branch died were hard, especially since Koutoku took over the throne and pushed forward with his plans of Kouen becoming a rightful heir. Sending him out to the battlefield and conquering a dungeon were only a few things that separated him from Hakuei.  Maybe it was for the best since his very own feelings for her settled down to a brotherly level again, but these trips also deadened his empathy towards other people, her included. For a long time the now first prince of the empire asked himself if the younger one was always so loyal because he was there when she suffered the most.

Kouen respects and threats the younger woman as if she was one his very own siblings. He is fond of her idea of expanding the lands of Kou even though he ways are very different from his own and he enjoys reading her memos about current events. Even though the first prince should have expected Hakuei to be become a strong woman he was still surprised when she became a general of the Kou empires army and a djinn wielder. Despite her ambition he saw her as one of the weaker chain links and therefore send her out to more peaceful areas where her life was not on the line in a daily routine. In his eyes women were not made for conquering or rough battles and when ever Hakuei returned with a wound or scar, he felt depressed about it, but those worries never reached the younger princesses ears since she may or may not feel offended by it.  For the sake of the blue-haired princess the general commander wished he would get along with Hakuryuu better. But there is also Kougyoku whom he wished to be a little less jealous of Gyokuen's daughter.  In the special case of windprincessofkou Kouen's feelings regained the strength they had back years ago and it seemed that he was not alone with this. However, it took a long time until they found a way to confess their feelings and after that the first prince asked her to keep it hidden from most people. There were too many people that would not approve of this and there were also more important things to do than arguing with them about something that was not up for discussion at all. Hakuei had willingly shared a bed with him and therefore would never be able to marry a man due to her being not pure anymore, but Kouen did not need something like that to stay by her side. An obligation like that meant nothing. The feelings that bloomed, withered away and arised anew after such a long time were fairly enough and he would possibly never feel the same for another woman.

I really don’t like when people are around while Hakuei trains in her djinn form. So much of her skin is being revealed towards those barbarians of the Kouga plains and the rest of the people she spars with. But I can’t forbid her to do it since she is a general of mine and she needs to keep herself vital and in shape.
