On Breed Names: Silken Windhound, Silken Windsprite, Windsprite, Longhaired Whippet
If you are unfamiliar, the above references two dog breeds, in spite of all of those names. For ease, I'll primarily be using "Windsprite" and "Silken Windhound".
Breed 1 began as the Longhaired Whippet, was recognized in parts of Europe as the Silken Windsprite in the early 2000's, and is now called the Windprite by their international parent club though still with the silken prefix in Europe. Breed 2 began being called the Silken Windsprite (prior to Breed 1 adopting that name in Europe), then became the Silken Windhound.
I asked her if she knows she is a good girl.
three beautiful windsprites for my pal Chirp!!! 💞💞
Quid is not a huge fan of nail trims, so I made a scratchy board to help keep them shorter while we work on it. It was super easy to make, just some 60 grit sandpaper stapled to a board, although I might go for a coarser grit when I redo it. It was also super easy to train him to scratch at it! He just thinks it's a Fun Game and doesn't associate it with nail stuff at all.
Anyway, would defs recommend for anyone with non-nailtrim-enthusiasts! It does only get his front claws, but those are the ones he dislikes getting clipped more anyway. I think if you really wanted to it would be possible to take a back-foot scratch.
Pie the Silken Windhound (2021)
This portrait is Pie, the silken windhound. Her portrait was painted with acrylics on an 8x10 canvas in 2021. She is a black and white bicolor windhound, and I used a lot of blue, purple, violet and teal in her portrait. Silken Windhounds are small sighthounds, and are related to the much larger Russian Wolfhound (Borzoi). The breed was created in the United States in the 1980s.
In 2021, I painted a total of 22 portraits. Actually 23, since I painted the same one twice for the same customer. 17 of those were dog portraits.
Did a little sketchcom stream for black friday!
