Golden Boy
Winged!Tommy Headcanon
Is it time for late night headcanons with Sky? You bet your ass it is! Strap it because this one is a very, very long one since I got way to cared away.
What if Wilbur wasn't the one to have wings? He's just a mostly normal human with like maybe one or two non-human traits, just overall he doesn't resemble his father. Tommy, on the other hand, does have wings and was born with them, but for one reason or another they're just not large enough to fly. So Tommy, already blonde and blue eyed, looks almost exactly like his father except for in height and what color his wings are, which are like a robin’s but with the same diamond markings as his father, Philza.
He usually hides his wings because Wilbur had warned him that there would be a target on his head. Most people usually aim for the wings on someone due to them having a shit ton of blood vessel and not having a very strong attachment to the body. So he, then just a child during that time, starts to wrap bandages around his body to hide his wings, causing them to be tattered and almost useless. During the Pogtopia arc he ends up freeing his wings more often, but never learned how to fly because he didn't have someone (aka, his dad) to teach him how to, so he just sorta ends up building towers and jumping off of them to at least attempt to learn. He only really learns how to glide.
After Philza joins the server, Tommy is actually somewhat excited because maybe he'll actually be able to learn how to fly. He's never really able to learn that much before he gets exiled. This arc goes pretty much the same, though Dream uses the fact that Tommy has wings as an illusion of choice.
When he finally manages to run away from Logstedshire, Techno finds him out in the snow, very sick and injured. The only thing he sees of the lad is his once bright, now very dull, red wings. They're tattered, feathers having fallen off and never grown back due to how stressed he was and also due to how he used to bind them. Techno, once Tommy is better, ends up helping him preen his feathers with it becoming a sorta bonding activity for the two of them, but it's also how Tommy knows he can trust Techno.
Whenever Philza joins to live at the Antarctic Commune, Tommy is once again excited that he'll be able to learn how to fly and this time around their training actually starts. It doesn't actually get that far before Techno basically throws Tommy out of the commune though.
Not much really happens from their, but Tommy just comes to accept that he'll either have to teach himself to fly or he'll just never learn how to, but when flying around with his trident after Dream is put in prison, he fully accepts the live of someone who lives on the ground rather than in the sky.
